The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Modding Problems
I have played oblivion on and off for many years, and its definitely my favourite of TES series. However, I just started modding it and started off with a decent-looking guide. The only problems i'm still having after many hours of trial and error are:

1.) Iron Longsword texture is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ (Weapon Improvement Project)
2.) Messed up font in menus (Phinixes Dark UI w/ SI patch)

Phinixes mod page says he included a fix with instructions in the readme, but there is no readme to be found.

As much as I would love to get these mods working, I have a feeling that because most of the mods are out of development you would have to just know how to fix it.

You can try deleting the mesh for the Iron Longsword so it uses the vanilla mesh. You might also look for a new retexture mod for it.

I'm not sure about DarkUI as I have never used it.

DarkUI'd DarN 1.6
By Gothic251 Available On Tesnexus.

I use this version and have not had problems, Read the "Read Me" properly, as contains font changes to be applied.

As for the sword texture prob, not sure what you mean by ♥♥♥♥♥♥? but sounds bad. if sword is purple in game, then your texture is missing. if not try suggestion by Omgwtfbbqkitten, as this should make game revert to Vanilla mesh n texture.

None of the DarN ui's work for me. I always get an "Invalid Mod Script" error.

Picture of swords for reference (Axe just shows that the mod is actually working partially)

This is what is happening with my DarkUI

Ok, those textures on swords etc, are completely out of wack, they are there, but they are not "lined up" properly onto the meshes, this is why you have half the metal blades on the handles etc. this can be fixed in "Nifskope" a tool that lines them up, but if you have no experience with it that may not be convenient, although its not really hard to do as you do it onscreen by "eye" until it looks right. The mod is made by "Insanity Sorrow" who has been modding for years, and has made far more intricate stuff than this, and so this sort of thing is suprising to see in one of his mods? So have you had other weapon mods installed previously, that may have un-alligned these meshes? if not then I suggest uninstalling this mod. there are other cool weapon mods out there.....http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/23150/?

Onto the DarkUI thing, those fonts are wrong for this UI. try this see if it works......This is from his readme which i have, and if you have not done what follows, this is likely the problem why you are getting "Invalid Mod Script" error. .So try following this.

3) Browse to "\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion" and open your Oblivion.ini file in notepad. Scroll down to the [Fonts] section and completely replace the entire block with the following text:

[Fonts]
SFontFile_1=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Regular.fnt
SFontFile_2=Data\Fonts\Kingthings_Shadowed.fnt
SFontFile_3=Data\Fonts\Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_22_DarNified.fnt
SFontFile_4=Data\Fonts\Daedric_Font.fnt
SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Theo_Kingthings_Petrock_18_DarNified.fnt

....................................................................................................................

hope this sorts it for you. However this version is oldish, i use the one stated above by Gothic 251 and in that you have to do exactly the same and REPLACE fonts ok.

if you need it I can paste entire ReadMe here By Phinixe. get back ok.

Ok, gonna try and organize this as best as possible.

1.) This is the first time I have ever modded Oblivion (or anything for that matter) and just downloaded all the mods recommended from a guide on steam. I have never tried any other weapon texture mods.

2.) The Phinixe UI pack is what you see in the screenshot, the Invalid Mod Script is what happens when I tried using NMM to load the one made by Gothic251. For whatever reason though, it worked with the alternate version (ONLY USE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING). After I change the font code, the Phinixe UI worked, but not the one by Gothic causes oblivion to crash on startup, with the error "Unable to inject .dll"

3.) I downloaded and installed the mod you posted, Nord Weapons. Does it retexture some weapons? I feel like the steel swords look better than normal, but it might just be my resolution. Also, not entirely sure if it installed properly, as I could not find that new shop for the life of me. Should it be somewhere outside Bruma, or do I need to make a whole new game for it to appear?

4.) Thank you for taking the time out of your day to help me.

According to the pictures for the Real Swords mod, the Tower/Shop is too the left side of Bruma entrance? outside the walls, should be visible. I dont know if this replaces in-game weapons or adds new? Anyway I looked on my storage drive cos remembered a sword replacer mod which was good, and should sort your problem. it is here.....
