You should probably be using OBSE and Stutter Remover if you are not.
When I was getting 20 fps i was using a few mods. I'm almost sure I was using the stutter remover already. I forget what OBSE is but it sounds really familiar so I probably had it installed.
I keep saying "When I was getting 20 fps" because this was few months ago now and since then I've factory reset my PC and I haven't installed Oblivion or any mods again yet.
Mods like Enhanced Vegetation, Oblivion Stutter Remover, Low-Poly Grasses and Shorter Grass all help improve framerate. I would advise that you use the Unofficial Patches (it's practically a mandatory thing these days, you CAN'T play the game without them). Try to avoid mods that would reduce framerate such as Shademe or Oblivion Reloaded. Despite how great OR is, I don't think your computer could handle it.
I dunno, try re-installing Oblivion, play around in the vanilla game and then try installing some mods if the issue is corrected. If it's still there, try installing some of those performance mods, in addition to the Unofficial Patches.
Also give us your VRAM, that might be the issue. My computer is the embodiment of terrible. 1.5 GHz AMD processor with Radeon HD Graphics. I have a measly 512 MB of VRAM. Not sure how much straight-up RAM I have though, I imagine it isn't much.
I also recommend unparking your cores. Can do wonders for your performance. It's the main reason I'm able to even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play a game.
piledriver isn't really a top-notch architecture yeah, but he's more hampered by the speed of the A10, rather than the architecture
and come to think of it, the A10 is kaveri or godavari anyway, which are actually better than piledriver clock-for-clock
the A10 still isn't a shining example of kaveri/godavari, that title belongs to the athlon, which is priced appropriately for the performance
man, i keep getting schooled
that is behind the times
whose idea was it to take a power-hungry monster architecture and starve it anyway?
that could be said for AMD as a whole post athlon 64
the radeon division not inclusive in that statement
though what really puzzles me is what the root cause of them being behind-the-times is, whether it's lacking intel's RnD budget, or otherwise
For me, Enhanced Camera causes an undue amount of frame drops in internal instances even with every other optimizer installed. It's ludicrous and to be honest really obnoxious. In Ayleid ruins, the game becomes unplayable. It turns out I might not be the only one who suffers from these problems too.
So that's why I ask everyone who has FPS issues if they have Enhanced Camera installed.
I have a laptop so I don't think my graphics card is in for an upgrade anytime soon. And if I had the money to buy a graphics card for a desktop I would have just saved up and bought a new PC by now.
I'm pretty sure I had all of my cores unparked at the time of posting this but they aren't anymore because of the factory reset. I'll unpark them before I try playing Oblivion again because I'm about to have to unpark them to get a ok framerate in Skyrim.
Yeah, I know my PC is pretty garbage. :/
I really hate how it looks to play at resolutions lower than native so I don't think its really worth to me especially considering I used to be able to get a good fps at native. My resolution isn't even a full 1080p anyway (1366 x 768 I think) so I don't think it would make as much of a difference for me. I already had tree canopy shadows turned off but I will try using bloom next time, thanks.
i used to have the same frame-tanking issue with enhanced camera, but it doesn't seem to be the same for OR's version of the plugin
have you used OR's version, and if so, has it had the same problem in your experience?
