If that does not solve the issue:
I suggest you verify your game files first.
Then, before loading the game;
- Make sure you do not have any remaining files from your previous game.
- Turn off the cloud.
- Go to the Oblivion Documents file and;
- 1 - Remove or delete the Saves folder.
- 2 - Delete Blendstings, Oblivion and Renderinfo files.
- 3 - Start a new game and save as soon as you like.
- 4 - Exit the game and turn the cloud back on.
- 5 - Start a new game and save it.
(You could try returning your old saves at this point, if you only moved them, but, I would not recommend it and certainly not if you have any mods used with them.)(Oblivion will create new files the first time you load your game.
So nothing worked, but you know what did? Making a whole new local windows user and downloading the game there.
And interesting. If creating a new local Windows user helped, then the problem was caused by a failure of the communication between the application software and the operating system.
Well, to me it looks like a cloud / synchronisation issue (Steam, OneDrive, or other similar systems, like Wai indicated above). New user - no synchronisation (at least initially).
Or is there a different potential explanation why creating a new user could fix this particular problem?
here is one setting example that stops skyrim and fallout nv from working. there are probably many more. maybe some website keeps track of them.
