The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Wich race to choose?
I've already put into the game 200+ plugins and fixed whole conflicts. So right now time to play but i'm confused... I don't know wich race to choose. I wanna be argonianin, orc, khadjit or imperial person. Tell me wich race chose you and comment it, why. :anarky:

What style of character do you intend?
For more warriorish character go with orc.
For mage/warrior hybrid I'd say imperial, maybe argonian.
For stealthy go argoinian or khaghit.
For pure mage or heavy mage style, I'd say none of the listed are ideal, Orc being the least useful. That being said, I don't think I've ever seen any orc mages in the game, so it would certainly be unique.
That's sound a little bit sad if you always choose by atributes =)

Actually it has little to do with attribute and all to do with racial abilities. I like that last emergency skill to match actual skillset.
That's the reason I say non of those are ideal for mage. The racial abilities have little or nothing to do with magicka.

So you even don't care about your appearance?

I care about my play style more so than I do my appearence. Luckily for myself, I enjoy how all the races look personally. However, I decided on Khajiit, because I wanted a thief-like character who mainly uses bows to snipe with. The Night Eye racial makes sneaking and sniping EXTREMELY easy. Not to mention Khajiits are masters of sneaking and pretty good jumpers. I'm happy with my decision, and I'm having loads of fun with this race and build.

what play playstyle you like should determine which race if you want to play to a race's strengths but there is something to playing an orc thief or mage, Breton 2h warior or even a khajiit heavy armor wearing and destruction casting character.
Which playstyle do you prefer or are you looking to min/max everything for late game stats? please say you're not.
i don't know. befor i wants to play as a shield + sword warrior mage in a heavy armor. But right now idk... I've notice that deadly reflex has got some problems and wont to pop up hotkey boards. If i can't fix it - i guess will be a heavy armored archer.
Clever Monkey Jul 25, 2014 @ 5:22am
so to sneak in heavy boots properly you need a sneak of 50 so a khajiit maybe your best choice to get you closest as well as a higher archery skill plus hand to hand for close up. An orc on the other hand gives great Heavy Amor skill and Health for when your sneak fails and it will.
You might want to think about secondary skills and the quest lines you want to start doing early. So many choices but it is getting my mind back into the Oblivion mechanics.
The great thing is you will never be wrong but you will never be right.

I think Breton is great for everything because the magic system is awesome and can compliment theives and fighters perfectly. You have given me some ideas on my return to oblivion.
Female Argonian Stealth class
Str/Will attribute bonus with thief sign
str;45 Agil;50 Spd;50 End;30 Int;50 Will;45 Pers;30 Luck;60
HA;25 H2H;30 Marks;25 Security;40 myst;30 ill;30 alt;25
This leaves me a well rounded toon except End but this will level quick as i will get hit alot leveling HA and will repair as much as possible. I probably wont worry about luck for a bit not caring if it reaches 100. It also leaves me 3.5 levels short of the Max but I dont care.
I suck at locks so my security needs to be high when I need it. The magic skills will compliment my combat with armor spells and detect life to offset my low sneak some what.
I may replace marksmanship with sneak as a major skill but this would leave me without a ranged weapon but once I got an invisibility spell I can better sneak up on people.
Of course this is all unmodded once I see what mods are out there I may change everything.
Anyways thanks for getting me back into the Oblivion frame of mind.

Ok... i'm recommending you:
- FCOM (4 global mods together. Oblivion Oscar, Francisco, Warcry and MMM)
- Elder Concile (full rebuild of the gold white tower. Now it's a politic center of the tamriel. Alot of diplomatic stuff, you could be a solder (new faction) or tax collecter, you even could starts to be a person "with blue blood". You might have chance to visit different parts of tamriel for example Khadjit homeland)
- Better Citys (and every plugin wich has got extra patches in this mod, they are awsowe. Makes every city amazin in a view and a little bit rebuilding it)
- Serwant of the Dawn (you have a chance to join them)
- Dark Brotherhood Chronical (make this guild alive again after you will be boss)
- Tramps (add some persons on the clear roads of Cirodil)
- City Life (makes presons alive inside towns and makes it more dinamic)
- Crowed Road (add some strangers on the road. some merchants and some adventures in the caves wich trying to take treasures but still peacefull to you)
- Midas Magic (200+ more spells. for example... everyspell with new model and animation. very cool mod also you have to earn it not just buy it)
- Origion of the mage guild (after you will be leader of this guild, you have to help this guild to get up from the knees)
- BadderX magic (better models for custom magic)
- Kvatch Rebuild (after gates of oblivion, you may help to rebuild this town and it will be availibal as well)
- Barthholm (new town)
- Arena Battles (improving arena at all)
- Arena improves (improving arena physicaly)
- Almost everythin VWD (world outside of the town will be better)
- Andoran Scooma (SCOOOMA!)
- Inebriation (alcochole will be alcochole)
- Terain Vampires (custom vampire system sux)
- StarX vampire death (vampires after death going to burn. Muhhahahah!)
- Cliff Better Letters (better letters in the game)
- Better Coins (better coins)
- Better botles (hm... even don't know xD)
- Book jakets (makes books much better)
- More Vegatables (i guess... it's somehow connected with vegatables)
- Fatigues Loss MOE (run = less stamina)
- Lich crafting and werewolf MOE (you might make yourself a lich if you strong mage. Or might starts to be a werewolf and you have to eat people sometimes)
- Hunger MOE (hunger system)
- Security Rebalance Traps and Bash Locks (deadly traps. get a trap? you are dead not just hitted for 5 health. Also if you got a strong character you might just bash the lock with your weapon)
- spoiled food (make sometimes food spoiled)
- better bell sound (in game you never heard a bell but it's just becouse betheda makes it too quite)
- DARK UI (change custom interface for much better)
- Map Marker Overhaul (allow you to "work" with map and putt your own signs and tags for some places)
- Colored enemys health bar (low health = read, full health green e.t.c)
- Oblivion Character Overhaul (change almost everyface in the game... Goodbuy super agly faces!)
- Enchanted Economy (change almost everythin wich connected with prices and money)
- Arcane infusion (mage mod)
- Deadly Reflex (Super-duper important mod for you. Change meele fightings in the game. Now even 1v1 fight with poor bandit may make you die if you not going to be carefull. You may bash enemy, kick them, slash them by peaces. Magic will get a critical effects... For example you might freez your enemys and broke him by peaces!)

This is minimum of the mods wich you MUST to instaill. Without them theres is no fun at all and game will be super easy. Also custom leveling system super sux in the game. FCOM going to improve it and add more then 400+ enemys and friends, new factions and new actions for Npcs. You need some help mate with that stuff? :anarky:

each character has differnet starting stats, orcs have more health and strength, while a dark elf has a higher base magika and is naturaly magic resistate.
I can't belive it people. Nobody cares about stylish? bah bah bah bah
