Durability should last for at least a small dungeon, not a single encounter.
Ogres and other Monsters don't wear down your weapons "quickly" so much as they have so much health that it's just a mathmatical inevitibility. You fight a single Ogre or a Dreugh for a minute straight because of their massive hp, yeah your stuff is going to break.
And since Oblivion is really old school with its dungeon logic and its Hive Mind AI, fighting a mix ogres, dreugh and minotaurs at the same time in the same dungeon doesn't help matters either.
As far as armor is concerned the problem is that the Milestone perks that are supposed to reduce how quickly your armor breaks do not scale into the midgame at all, and you can just forget about post-25. You're better off just enchanting clothing with Shield.
It's just a bad reason to hate it. I personally love the storytelling. I think they also insulted the class skills.
On the other hand I really do not care for the storytelling in Oblivion at all. But I don't see a reason to have a set play for dealing with you because you feel differently. Just let people be people.
Who hate what is not our business. TES4 is a single play games.
How to play or not play is entirely personal issues.
Look at me, I am the emporer now!
