Game crashing on exit
I am using Windows 7 64bit fully updates. Lately this game has taken to crashing after I exit if I play 2 hours or more. I tried verifying files and adding it dep exception list. Any help?

That is a common issue.

You can fix it by using OBSE and either the mod Fast Exit or Stutter Remover with Fast Exit enabled.

Stutter Remover is recommended to help prevent stutter too, so it is your best bet.

OBSE: http://obse.silverlock.org/

Oblivion Stutter Remover: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/23208/?

Going to try now but can't get their website to open for some reason.

I have now cleared out old saves and turned cloud sync off for the game.

For as long as i've played, I've always recalled this being an issue. But it's kinda a non-issue in my opinion. If it crashes when you quit, the game still closed anyways.

It is mostly an issue for those people who want to change their in-game settings in the game. If you change your video, audio, or controls then exit the game and it crashes, all those settings are not saved because of the crash.

It is kind of annoying having to re-adjust your settings every time you play.

That is a very good point. You can get around that by changing the oblivion.ini file.

It is still crashing after I used fast exit. This last time totally disabled my mouse and keyboard. Also to rub it in my game messed up. Characters are freezing and fighting each other. It got so bad I started all over again and loaded an old save.

Here is the error message in event viewer

Faulting application name: Oblivion.exe, version: 1.2.0.416, time stamp: 0x462392c7

My specs:

Gigabyte z170xp sli
16 gb ddr 4 ram
Gigabyte GTX 1070 gaming
Onboard sound with latest driver
Latest graphic card driver installed.
Game is run from 3tb sata 3 harddrive with all Steam games.

I've had this issue for as long as I've played since April 2006, no matter what my hardware is or which OS I have used. The game crashes on exit every single time. :dwarven:

Crash on exit is the normal state for most Oblivion players, but like a guy above said, it's not that big of an issue. :dwarven:

Okay. I play in windowed mode now and now it's fine. I don't think it likes big resolutions. Now hoping to find out why Baurus and Jauffre attacked Ocato and then the guards. Totally ruined the save.

I use autohotkey (same for skyrim) like this:
+!NumpadEnter:: Process, Close, Oblivion.exe

Shift-Alt-NumpadEnter will kill the process, also useful in case of infinite loading screens
