The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Hard to play!
Hey everyone. May be I suck in this game, though I've finished it multiple times in 2008. It is hard for me I must admit. I'm playing on 50% difficulty. Am I doing something wrong? Enemies do ridiculous amount of damage sometimes, sometimes they don't. I just came to the Kvatch where you need to close the gate of Oblivion. And dremoras and those little dinosaur like creatures just kicked my ass really hard. Is it suppose to be like this? I'm level 6 now, I use shield for blocking and Sword for damage. Even through my shield they kill me pretty fast...
I thought may be it's because of my mods. Also the amount of healing potions just... very low. May be unofficial patches make game more difficult and change level lists? Anyway here's my modlist. Tell me if I just suck, it's ok :D

I think your play environment is very normal.
UOP does not touch Leveled List and your mods do not change.
At level 6, Clanfear runt appears, they have 20% reflect damage that may annoys you.
They can jump at you resulting your break shield stance.
At level 6 your defend value(shield number) is very low so if you lost shield stance their power attack do many damage. It is very normal. So you should not run into enemies.
And take rest if you go with soldier companion.

Alright so it's normal thing... May be I should prepare before facing some enemies. I'm trying to drink, sleep and eat as often as I need because of stats loss added by Basic Needs mod. But yea those Clanfear guys are just pain :D Ok thanks for reply!

So there's a "survival" mod for Oblivion? Cool! How do you like that, having to keep track of eating and sleeping? :dwarven:

It's likely because you're simply just bad, but as they said before, Clannfear can be a pain early on, especially in groups. They can best even the most durable Warriors with high health and armor. However, it all comes down to your playstyle. If you have a decent amount of Speed and know the attack patterns of enemies, you can simply move out of the way of their attacks and not be hit, specifically Ogres, Clannfear, and Zombies. Also, be sure to wear armor or use Alteration's Shield spells or Conjuration's Bound Armor spells. Make sure you use Spell Absorption, Resist Magic, or Reflect Spell. Alternatively, you could use different items to reach 100% Reflect Damage, giving you total immunity to melee damage. Same with Spell Absorption/Resist Magic/Reflect Spell, which gives you immunity to magic. The only damage you will be taking with both Reflect Damage or any of the other 3 magic defense enchantments is marksman damage so try to dodge arrows.

It's cool, food actually makes sense now except of alchemy... I can use wells for getting clean water and I must sleep. I like it.

Yea but... How can I get all those things early in the game? =_= I tried to clear some dungeons and got some level. No gold, anything. I assume some enemies level raises with yours but some enemies have locked level, may be I'm wrong. I had problems with clanfears and dremoras. Also I put the difficulty down to 20% because I couldn't kill those Mythic Dawn guys in the sewers with Baurus when we needed to get 4th book by the quest :( They were just crazy af. 3 hits and I'm dead through shiled. Now I am more or less ok, level 11 and I'm using a mod that just simply doubles the damage of all weapon and makes enemies stronger a bit too. Don't know, all I can see now is some problems with balance in Oblivion. How I even beat this game in 2008 when I was 17. I don't remember any troubles. XD

You might have better luck in finding a solution by making a new thread about your specific situation, rather than resurrecting a thread from a year ago that's about a different situation than yours.
