Fingers of the Mountain Part II

I'm doing the optional part of this quest where you can get a powerful spell by casting a shock spell at the Ayleid pillar where you get the book for the quest from.

It requires that you use the shock spell on the pillar with a Welkynd Stone, but doing so does nothing. I also tried dropping a Welkynd stone on the ground next to the pillar and casting lightning at both the stone and the pillar.

I can't find a solution anywhere. Any ideas?

Yes it's the correct pillar and it's so straight forward I don't really need to watch a video, but I just did anyway and he did it exactly the same as me except it worked for him.

My quest just must be bugged.

Lol, i had no idea what the note actually told me to do, i only understood i have to go with a stone and shock spell it upon return to cloud top.

Yeah that's all you need is a Shock spell and a Welkynd Stone.

You're keeping me in suspense though, did it work for you when you shocked the pillar? Or are you not there yet?

I never got to find a ''Welkynd Stone''. And i have only a single shock spell.

You can find Welkynd Stones in any Ayleid Ruin and, I believe, at some Mages Guilds. I got like 12 stones from the ruin just outside the Imperial City where you exit the sewers.

Well I finally solved it by simply completing the quest through the console using 'setstage MG05A 40'.

For anyone else who gets stuck, there you go.

You go to the MG in Chorrol. Talk to the Argonian in charge. Go to the High Elf woman, talk to her. Go back to him and talk to him. He tells you to go up the hills north of the town just like she told you. You find a corpse next to a pillar, you take a book from it. Go back to the town and you talk to him or her. If you talk to him you leave the book with him, she gets angry and tells you to take it back. You give her back the book. She tells you to wait a day. After a day passes you talk to her, she gives you a note. You go up the hill again with a welkynd stone in hand. You use a target shock spell on the pillar and you get struck by lightning in return.

It's such a shame, I'm doing another playthrough of Oblivion and I had this bug happen to me. There genuinely is no way around it when this bug happens, you have to pop the console open and bypass the pillar.

Spent several hours reloading the save, trying the other option, trying welkynd stones from different places and different shock spells. It simply just can't be fixed without the console command. :(

I'm sorry, but what's the point of doing part 2 anyway? Why not just do the normal quest and be done with it and move on? The spell is one of the worst damage for its magicka cost spells in the entire game (possibly the worst).
