Endurance/Health Level up Question
So yeah...I used that scroll that fortifies endurance by 50pts (Document of Purile Banter) just before I slept and two things happened....

a) it only increased my Endurance by 25 points (I was base level 40 endurance and it increased it to 65 after the spell. I was expecting it to be at 90 endurance).
b) after I woke up I wrote down the level up changes and then reloaded the hard save just before sleeping and tested it without using the scroll...the results were identical.

So you can't get extra health on level up this way contrary to what someone told me

Level 1>Level2 (No spell):
Hp 80/80 > 97/97
Magicka 160/160 > 170/170
Fatigue 175/175 > 185/185

Level 1>Level 2 (Fortify Endurance 50pts...even though its actually only fortify 25pts lol)
Hp 80/80 > 97/97
Magicka 160/160 > 170/170
Fatigue 175/175 > 185/185

As far as I know, only permanent increases to stats will work; a temporary boost won't affect leveling gains.

To quote UESPWiki on Endurance: "Any Fortify Endurance effect will also provide a health increase (equal to two times the endurance boost). These effects will not modify the health received when you level."

also...I'm kinda stuck and really hope I don't have to reroll again SIGH but this...

Level 2>3 it's only giving me +3 for endurance no matter how many times i train the relevant minors. Maybe once you get the message to sleep all other skill ups are not counted? That would be another incredibly lame thing they added imo. I usually play where I raise all the minors first then go out to play proper but on this level I forgot about training the extra 5 to endurance skills after training armorer at the npc 5 times.

Basically Ive raised trained armorer at npc 5 times, trained block 7 times natively, and trained heavy armor 4 times natively so no idea why it's only giving me +3 to endurance every time I go to sleep

looks like I am gonna have to take a +3. Reloaded before the sleep and raised armorer twice and heavy armor twice. They are all minor skills and have been raised +20 now. I'm starting to hate this game compared to morrowind. Annoying because I've spent so much time on counting levels and rerolling.

Before the sleep message I was like this ...
Conjuration +4 (major), Destruction +5 (major), Light Armor +1 (major)
Alchemy +10 (minor), Alteration +10 (minor), Armorer +5 (minor)

and then hard saved. After the sleep it said +5 wilpower +5 intelligence and +2 endurance. i reloaded the save and went and got 7 block and heavy armor 4 times and then it said +3 to endurance after a total of +16 skill ups. Reloaded and added another 4 endurance skill ups...still +3 endurance.

Clearly once you get that message to sleep...ANY skillups you get after this dont count towards the +5 (even if they are minors)...and that is just anotehr lame ass thing they added in oblivion over morrowind imo

if this has messed something up for this level...its probably gonna mess something up for the next level too. Honestly if it pulls this again on the next level ill just quit the game. I aint number crunching and being a perfectionist only for the game to screw me over with a +3.

It's basically this.....

Morrowind: get 10 skillups for an attribute before you sleep
Oblivion: get 10 skillups for an attribute before you get the sleep message. Anything used after that is a complete waste even if it's a minor skill

Absolutely fatal difference for someone trying to efficient level and going off morrowinds system. I never once had anything lower than +5 every level in morrowind.
I actually hit level 2 earlier today. The only stats I had that weren't a +5 were Strength and Luck, the latter starting at 65. :P

getting +5 is easy Dosbilliam. it's the stupid system of when you do it. if you get the message to sleep before you have done it you're screwed. i just learned that the hard way. in morrowind once you get that message you can go and train any minors before you sleep. nothing told me that was different so i assumed it was the same,,,wrongly.

in the end just had to suck it up and take the +3. restarting after 30 hours just for an extra +2 would be even more annoying. it just means it takes one more level to max it which i guess im ok with. now i know exactly what it does it wont happen again cause ill make sure i have the +30 before i get that message from now on

I feel nearly same thing when i came from Morrowind Game to Oblivion.

Then gardually noticed that attributes value are not so important as in Morrowind.
TES4 is very easy game for characters to survive.
Any badly build uped character can go anywhere he want to go.
Low agility and low skilled character can hit enemy that makes posion very effective.
You can run backward casting cheap cost weak fireball and mana regen very quickly.

So in tes4 just three attributes STR(to carry more) INT(for more MANA Speed(running fast) are important.

"If you have installed the Knights of the Nine official plug-in and completed its questline, you can permanently gain extra health on each level up with Mara's Blessing (obtained by praying at Sir Casimir's tomb). The blessing only needs to be activated before you sleep to level up."

is this in vanilla ps3 version? i have some quest to pray at all the temples in the cities is it that?

Knights of the Nine is an official DLC.

I haven't played it in a really long time, but it sounds like to me that you only have to pray at Sir Casimir's tomb.

I don't know who that is, I just saw the note on the wiki and thought it was relevant to this topic.

I have oblivion: game of the year ps3 edition (platinum). Is it on that? I'm a member of "Nine Divines" (pilgrim) and the current quest, the first one, is to pray at all the temples around the region

It should be. :)

The quest to pray at all the temples probably isn't relevant to the endurance buff, though.

I imagine you'll find whatever Casimir's Tomb is later in the storyline. I don't know, either.

Technically there isn't a max level, since you can use the console to drop skills down so you can level more. Even if there was, it'd be entirely variable since depending on your major skills and race, it could swing around a small area.
