Strange FPS drops on every video settings
Hello there!

I have strange issue with TES: Oblivion and i don't know what could be a reason.

First, every other games with higher requirements runs more smoothly on my PC than Oblivion, also PC was scanned yesterday and no virus has been detected.

But i know something could be wrong with Oblivion cause i have 17 FPS in game (9 in combat) on every video settings (from lowest to highest) and on every resolution (from 640x480 to 1920x1080) and i wonder what could make that mess. Anyone had this kind of problem? Any ideas?

Ow, and here's my PC spec:

Main board: ASUS M4A77TD PRO
Procesor: AMD Athlon(tm) ll X4 620 Processor
RAM: DDR3 4GB (tyle pamiętam :D)
Video card: ATI Radeon HD 5770
Disc: Hitachi Ultrastar 2TB
Monitor 1: Iiyama ProLite E2283HS
Monitor 2: LG Flatron M1717A

I know it's already a wood category but this PC should run TES:O w/o problems :c

You need to mess with the ini settings for Stutter Remover and use the ring for streamline to balance the FPS Streamline makes it so the FPS normalizes, but you still have to tell it how forcefully it needs to be applied in-game. With anything, it's dependant on your system specs.. but here is a quote from a user:

"i-7 975 Extreme Edition OC'd to 4.2ghz - original EVGA GTX TITAN SC edition and 2560x1600 resolution ---

I played with OSR with minimum set to 10 FPS and Max set to 30 since forever ... I finally decided to try to raise the max to 60 and I changed the iHeap option thing from the default to 1024. I get no stuttering at all and everything smoothed out nicely. In fact, I am also using the max boost from my card pretty much everywhere now. Before it would only jump up a little bit - assuming because OSR limited the game to 30FPS.

So yeah. Those who want to try for 59 or 60fps, try raising the default iHeap option number :)"

The thing that jumps out at me is that you have two monitors. A lot of old games don't handle multi-monitor setups well at all. I've never had two monitors though, so I don't know what advice to give for that.

Guys thanks a lot for help :)
But the reason for poor performance was not a video. This will sound pretty fun, but music was resposinsible for that, i disabled it and recieved 90 fps boost :D

So one more time thanks a lot for trying to help me @Alpaz :)

ow, and @XenoZooValentine, don't worry bout my 2nd monitor, i'm only using it when i working on something or streaming Talisman :p

Wow music, which music mod?

I've disabled command "bMusicEnabled" in Oblivion.ini and it works.

NICE! Gonna try that! :D See if I gain more FPS. :P

Edit: Yups, that works Optio! I just ran through some heavy fighting and it went smoother than before. Thanks!! :D

You're welcome :D
Sorry to say that, but your PC is a super old Low End machine. Oblivion Remaster is a very Bad optimized unreal 5 Game.
Your PC cant reach the Minimum requirements at all.
The reason why you wont get past 17fps is your RAM and Processor. They are limiting your GPU.
You could Play the original oblivion.

This isn't the remaster sub. But yes their machine is dated, still well over whats needed to run OG oblivion. It runs on a space NUC I have that doesn't even have an actual GPU. It ran fine even with QTP 3 textures on Alienware's 2009 m11x. That thing only had a gig of vram and 4 gigs of ram. And a core 2 duo. The problem here isn't OPs hardware.

My guess is OPs machine has onboard/integrated graphics as well as dedicated, and Oblivion is trying to run with the integrated chip thus not even using the vRAM.

you're posting this in the wrong forum buddy, and also OP wrote this from 2016, almost an entire decade ago; please stop necromancing old threads.
