The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

save problem
Hello, I downloaded oblivion GOTY and it was impossible to save. I saw that the save folder was not present so I created one in the oblivion folder in my game but still nothing. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled and the folder was still not there, I tried to save with the command in game but still no save. If anyone has a solution I'm interested. Thanks to all

try steam verify game files at least?

neither steam nor the game installer nor the game make any changes to windows security.

check antivirus log? might be blocking game/game launcher.
check windows security/controlled folder access. if on add exceptions for game launcher/game.

game launcher needs to create folder
Documents\My Games\Oblivion
folder should contain files blendsettings.ini oblivion.ini rendererinfo.tct
and after game starts your saves folder.

if these files are missing also besides no saves
running windows one drive? one drive moves the ini files to the one drive. tweak one drive to leave the files in the original folder.

mods? mods cause all kinds of issues.

I can't contact steam for this game because they don't support it.

Antivirus and windows do not block access to the game

in the oblivion folder I have 2 files:
-Oblivion.ini
-Dosier save : steam_autocloud.vdf

I disconnected one drive to be quiet

And I have no mods

Maybe check that you have Steam cloud saving turned off in the game properties? Just a thought.

I am running windows 11. in my Documents\My Games\Oblivion folder are
three files BlendSettings.ini, Oblivion.ini, RendererInfo.txt. the last one has my video card. I do not use steam cloud so no steam_autocloud.vdf

turn off steam cloud then run the game and try to save. perhaps it is a steam cloud issue.

been a while since I have played but have you tried saving in several parts of the game. perhaps you are in an area where saving is not possible.

the game launcher creates the Oblivion folder and the ini files. the game itself creates the saves folder and saves. make sure oblivionlauncher.exe AND oblivion.exe are not blocked by your AV.

That happens, when you press TAB during character creation. You can fix that with the console, type 'player.SetActorFullName XXX' (replace XXX with the name of your character, without pressing TAB), press Enter, that should fix it.

Hello, I have solved my problem. There was an authorization to give for the backup only and that appeared only in the windows menu without being displayed directly like the other authorizations. A little complicated but solved thanks to you

Would you please be a little more detailed with your instructions? What do you mean by "fix that with the console"? Where do I type this? Please excuse my ignorance. Thank you.
