The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

INCREASING YOUR SKILL LEVEL
this is for people like me who may have forgotten how this game works after not playing it for a long time. i tend to create fighters as opposed to magicians/mages. this time i am level 38 redguard and i had poor skills for alteration, conjuration, illusion, destruction, restoration, etc. the easy way to bring them up if you are a fighter type player is to buy a cheap spell that can be used at any time a multiple amount of times. i used "protect" for alteration, "charm" for illusion, "heal minor woulds" for restoration, "cold touch" to destruction, one of the shields for conjuration. for each skill, i increased the skill level while defending myself with a regular shield but you can also do it in most places after clearing a cave/fort/whatever in most cases. i did each 20 to 30 each in a matter of 15-20 total minutes.

just an fyi for anyone who is interested.

This is one important function of Edgar's Discount Spells; he sells low level spells in every discipline which can be used for raising your skills.

That is a good observation. It is very helpful to cast cheap spells.

It is actually better to create custom spells using the spellmaking altar in the Arcane University.

You can create very weak spells that cost 1-3 magicka so you can more easily spam the spell without ever running out.

If you hold block while casting spells it increases your casting speed so you can gain levels very quickly.

Sometimes I jam a nickel into my keyboard to spam cast while I go take a shower or go get food and when I come back I gained alot of levels. I only go afk for minor skills though since I wouldn't want to gain to many levels spaming spells while away.
