Request to add Achievements
Dear Oblivion fans!
If you enjoy this game, please take part in asking Bethesda to add Steam achievements.

It could be done via official Bethesda site [help.bethesda.net].

More about Oblivion achievements that already exist in Xbox 360 version of the game and about submitting feedback to Bethesda you may find in the following guide.

I gotta be real @Slander & @theo only a moron would let text on the screen dictate their life.

Just because someone doesn't have the cognitive function to decide how to play the game for themselves doesn't mean the rest of us should be punished for it.

The bar shouldn't be set to "Oh what will the morons do if this happens?"

Just because you called me a moron while I tried to express my opinion without even trying to offend anyone or even impose it, I will quote another message of yours on Baldur's Gate:

This thread is almost a year old and I still come back to check on any achievement news.
  • I don't care if the game is $30
  • I don't care if the devs haven't improved on anything since the original release
  • I don't care if there are occasional bugs
The lack of achievements is the only thing preventing me from buying the game.

Seems like I'm not the one that let's a text on a screen dictate their life...

I see literacy isn't your strong suit. Go ahead and find where I called you a moron. It's totally fine if you don't want achievements in video games. Some people like them, others don't.

What I'm suggesting is that for anyone who reads an achievement and feels no other recourse than to do what it says would be a moron. As someone who doesn't follow achievements that couldn't possibly be you, right?

Yes I want achievements in video games. You've discovered my secret...

When you read text, information you receive is dictated by the text you read. Unless you have cognitive function to remain completely ignorant to it.
I'm gonna play the game the way I want, but it doesn't mean my experience from the game isn't affected by achievements.
You, on the other hand, cannot play a game without text telling you what to do. Like a moron by your own definition.

But... I play Oblivion, on PC, which doesn't have achievements, which is the whole reason I'm even here...

I actually came here to see why Oblivion didn't have achievements on PC. I already completed the game on 360 years ago. Would have bought it again for PC but the lack of achievements in this version makes it a pass for now.

I kinda remember someone reporting that some Beth employee years back said that they can't compile Oblivion from sources anymore either because they've lost some sources or they don't have the platforms to do so (i.e. the tech changed a lot from ~2003 when they were working on it to now.)

I don't remember where or when I heard this, sadly. I could have been in a twitch stream, it could have been in a YT video from some content creator, etc.

Perhaps that's the reason why they've left Oblivion abandoned and can't add achievements (or do anything with it.)

It would be neat to have achievements added, but I find the unique items you get through quests presented on my shelf to be good enough.

It doesn't make sense for them to not be added when they existed for xbox360
Salander Jul 13, 2023 @ 1:58am
I think Oblivion predates Steam achievements, thus they never existed for the PC version at the moment.

It's been months since this thread and nowadays I simply don't care if they end up adding achievements. Hell, I could even use Cards/Market Items to spend the points of those Jester Awards! lol

It will never happen. Let's put this thread to bed.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
