exit bug

whenever i try to quit the game it either freees on a loading screen, or the screen goes into windowed and black, saying there is an error. I cannot click anything to close the tab because the cursor is on the game, so the only way to get the computer working again is a power off. Is there some kind of known result for this?

You need a mod called Oblivion Stutter Remover, which has the much-needed "fast exit" option. This lets you exit the game quicker than manually going to the menu and closing from it.

Worst comes to worst, you should always be able to Ctrl+Alt+Del out and use the Task Manager to close the game. If you find the game blocks it, open the Task Manager while Oblivion isn't running, and then enable Always On Top via the Options menu.

The Fast Exit mod works like a charm and the game closes instantly. Before I installed that I would quit by typing qqq in to the console.

This happens to me and the fast exit doesn't seem to fix it. However you can kill the process without needing to reboot, just use the task manager.
