Obsidian entertainment and Bioware worked together on Neverwinter Nights, and Obsidian later branched off and went to Bethesda. They had a lot of file rights to NWN, and used some materials in TESIV Oblivion. What other than the menu music, I do not know.
I just find it interesting.
This isn't true at all.
There's one tiny grain of truth here, Jeremy Soule, the composer of this music was the same composer of Neverwinter nights. But he was also the composer to morrowind music as well as many other games.
The oblivion music is just a new mix, or sequel let's say, of morrowind music. The same sample of music is in morrowind theme as Oblivion and Skyrim theme, as was designed because they are sequels. The music for oblivion was not meant for Neverwinter nights (Neverwinter nights would most definitely not have a remix version of elder scrolls theme song from morrowind, which is what oblivion is), it's just the same composer.
Obsidian also didn't go to Bethesda at this time at all.
The only time Bethesda and obsidian worked together was for fallout New Vegas, 6 years later, and that was the first and only time obsidian and Bethesda collaborated.

Oblivion theme song:

If you notice, the notes playing at 17 seconds are the same (but faster tempo) than the notes playing at the beginning of morrowind theme song after the heart beat drum part.
There's absolutely no way this song was gonna be used for any other game besides elder scrolls, because it's literally just a newer elder scrolls theme song.
That's really awesome, I never knew any of that.
To be honest I did not take the time to learn; but it's very interesting finding that out.
It explains why i've heard so many similar sounding tracks as that.
Ah, I had heard someone else speak of Obsidian working for Bethesda earlier,
on Oblivion. Just assumed it to be correct. Would be nice to see Obsidian and Bethesda
collaborate once again though.
I apologize for spreading misinformation around.
No worries. But I can see why the mix up cus like I said grains of truth in there, especially with the same musical composer (where it's entirely possible a composer reuses some of their old music with a variation on it).
Also a guy who made a very popular oblivion mod was hired by obsidian to help with new Vegas cus he knew the engine so well. I believe it was the oscuro oblivion overhaul or the masker oblivion overhaul. So probably a mix of that there too
Almost like a myth, with fractions of the truth strewn about lol.
I remember that mod, I have it on a CD (along with a bunch of my other favorite mods.)
I tend to back up all my favorite mods, videos, pictures, etc. due to never knowing when
something on the internet will be gone.
I play ArmA a lot, and Armaholic recently was shut down; so all of those old mods are
simply gone in the dust. I didn't have any backups either.
I flared Bruma Guard, change spell to Heal Minor Wounds and spamm it. 2 guards stand awkwardly near me unable to initiate arrest.
P.S. If you pick up item with Telekinesis and try to add it to your inventory in a plain sight, NPC's get angry. So perfect theft is: grab desired item with Telekinesis, hide and take it.
Grabbing apple. "Stop! Thief!"
Grabbing apple with Telekinesis. "Hmmm..."
