There is also a mudcrab merchant east of gnaar mok that has 10k and trades with base prices aswell, but is tricky to find

I don't even own Morrowind.
You can make an investment on stores once your mercantile skill is high enough, not sure if 75 or 100, other than that, there is no other way.
I do recommend you check UESP for merchants with more money but i think max is 1200g

once your mercantile skill 75 you can invest 500g in stores to increase their cap permanently, you can also use fortify skill to achieve this
once your mercantile skill maxes out, all stores have 500g cap increase

Varla stones are far too valuable to sell, When you use a Varla stone it recharges every magical item in your inventory so it's worth far more than the septim value. Unless in a pinch early on they should be stockpiled.
Investing in shops adds 500 to the trader buying power but the only way to increase that is with mods that add new traders with bigger purses.
Seek you the Goddess Store mod which has traders with much more cash on the hip. There are other trader mods that allow you to sell higher value items but the best option to earn money over the long term is to use a shop mod. The best of the best is....
