So I did the mage quest where I have to get recommendation from Chorrol. I did the quest but the red marker won't disapear. Am I missing something?

Which way round did you do the quest? Did you give Teekus book or steal it back and give to Earana? The quest is still active if you gave it to Earana as you still need to collect your reward from here in appx 24hrs.

The marker is on Teekus btw, not Earana. So I ask him to recommend me but I can't because I already got the recommendation.

Back to my original question. How did you do the quest?
The quest in reality has 2 parts. "fingers of the mountain 1" and "fingers of the mountain 2"
If you got the book and gave it to Teekus, you get the Mage guild recommendation.
Did you then talk to Earana? who gets mad with you for giving him the book and asks you to steal the book back.
Refuse and quest is finished or steal the book, give it to Earana and wait 24hrs for her reward, go back get the reward and the quest is finished.

Is it worth stealing the book and giving it to Earana? What is the reward?

Maybe I should give it to Earana and steal it for Teekus so the mage keeps the book?

I don't bother giving the book to Earana because the spell she gives you is so high powered that you'd never get enough magic to cast it without some heavy duty fortify magicka

So I just leave it in the chest.

but you never technically beat part 2 or you just denied her request?

I sadly accepted to give her the book which I did. so now I have to beat that optional quest either legit or with console commands.

and no I sadly can't revert back to an older save or use console commands to undo the quest.

This all depends on your level. You get it at level 30, yes you won't be able to cast it. You get it at level 3 and it's a ♥♥♥♥ spell that will last you a level or two before being obsolete.

ok i beat part 2 of that mountain book quest and the red marker vanished.

im assuming i still got the recommendation because the wiki said so and part i was already completed which indicated the lizard would write me it.
