since Oblivion uses cloud saves, you need to also wipe the data from Steam cloud to ensure anything left behind by mods are completely gone. unless you've never used mods before at all, then you'll probably need mods lol.

yeah i tried disabling cloud saves but that didn't work, i was testing some enb presets to see which one i liked and messed with the settings to find out that the only setting i can't change is the brightness, since then i removed all the files and downloaded oblivion again, vanilla and all, but i still can't change the brightness, the game just freezes if i touch the slider and i have to ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager to delete the process, super weird

i also tried adding these parameters in the .ini: fGamma, fGammaMax, and fGammaMin but any value other than the ones what i presume to be the default ones, freezes the game at the main menu, any mod recommendations to fix it?

did you make sure to first back up your local saves, and then delete all saves from in the game itself? it's good that you already had cloud saves disabled. I've never used mods for Oblivion so I won't know what to recommend.

yea windows 10 isn't exactly the best for playing older games, maybe backwards compatibility mode woulda fixed it
