cant change the resolution

I cant change the resolution, i have tried going into the game files and changing it there. But it always just opens in a tiny box on the screen. Does anyone know another way to change this? no Bethesda games seem to work on my computer idk why

game was released in 2007. has been reading hardware for 14 years and setting resolutions on many machines. so run the game launcher, set your resolution and exit the game launcher. then go to folder
Documents\My Games\Oblivion
look in oblivion.ini. should see something like this (for my monitor fullscreen 1920x1080)
bFull Screen=1
iSize W=1920
iSize H=1080
iAdapter=0

if no bethesda games work, either write permission problem. or your graphic card driver needs updating/reinstalling. most bethesda games have a game launcher that reads your hardware and uses your graphic card driver to write the settings/preferences to .ini files.
