No keyboard Input
The game is not acknowledging my Keyboard's existence. Any ideas for what is wrong and how to fix?

Problem: Recent versions of Windows have keyboard issues where the keyboard gives no input to the game, primarily at the menu screen. The given way to fix this is to set "bUse Joystick=0" in the Oblivion.ini file, however many people including myself found this alone to do nothing.

Solution:
► Go into C:/User/Documents/My Games/Oblivion, and open Oblivion.ini in Notepad
► hit Ctrl+F and find:

bBackground Mouse=0
bBackground Keyboard=0
bUse Joystick=1

► Change to this:

bBackground Mouse=0
bBackground Keyboard=1
bUse Joystick=0

This will set the game to read all Keyboard input, and will disable all Joystick controls that may interfere with them.

I have found that this game does NOT like alt-tabbing. When I do and I select the game again, it doesn't register my keyboard. I can't escape from the pause menu and I have no mouse cursor.

Incredibly annoying this fix works fine for vanilla but doesn't for modded. There is obviously some sort of overwrite happening but none of the mod configs deal with altering the controls in anyway. Why is something as basic as a functional keyboard a massive pain in the ass? Sometimes I wonder why I bother playing anything touched by Bethesda.

My heavily modded game has work just fine until today, hope this works

I believe this issue is due to steams recent changes, if you right click your oblivion and go to properties, and then go to controller. Change it to default, or turn it off. I left it on default and on the ame screen installed their Xbox, idk what is called eactly, driver or plugin? It now works for me. I dont use a controller but this did fix my issue. Best of luck and hope it goes well
Hope you see this and hope it helps Musica Universalis

I also see this is old af
