So if I understand your question right you're on a 144hertz display but would like to limit your FPS to 60 to avoid the various issues Bethesda games have with framerates above 60?

I'm in the same boat, I use RivaTunerStatisticsServer server which comes with MSI Afterburner when you install it. Google MSI Afterburner and on MSI's website you'll either decide to get Afterburner and open RivaTunerStatisticsSever sever or find a download just for RivaTuner.

Once you have it installed you can create a profile for Oblivion and set an FPS limit.

If you have trouble with the software I can explain the process in more detail.

PS: For Resolution just launch the game, a smaller window appears and you click on options, set the resolution you want + the settings you want.

I’m curious about the issues you mention regarding over 60 fps. I’ve heard of it but not noticed any issues. I’m on a 1440p 144hz monitor. I have average 75 frames in the wilderness and 150 frames in interiors. The game build I have now is the most stable I’ve ever had, but I have no frame related issue. Occasionally, I do run into some areas where it drops momentarily to about 20, but nothing serious.

They mostly relate to physics. A common one involves items such as food and plates explosively launching themselves around rooms at high speed. Then you've got stuff like dropped items simply falling through floors, and so on.

It's a lot worse in Skyrim, where water is affected. Get your frame rate high enough and eventually that game will let you swim over High Hrothgar.

Hahahahaha, wild. But no, clever experienced any of that.

I do suspect it's much worse in Skyrim, but 1 issues to take seriously is the glitch in Oblivion that after a certain amount of time the world just becomes corrupted and your save is essentially ruined,

I have heard that the in game clock is determined by the tick rate, which would mean this might happen sooner rather than later. Also I wonder if Oblivion ties FPS directly to almost every function of the game like it does in Skyrim.

Including making you move faster, day/night pass faster etc.

The only serious time-related bug I'm aware of is a-bomb, which is simple enough to fix once it crops up. The longest I've ran a single character for was about 600 hours.

Good to hear that there is a way to fix the A-bomb. Wasn't aware of that.
