Who to kill?
Whom I can kill to be invited to The Dark Brotherhood? But if this person isn't necessary for other quests.

I usually use the Mephala daedric quest for that. You have to be level 15 and have an offering of nightshade to offer during the night. You also must kill 2 family leaders nearby and plant some misleading evidence. You get a fairly nice daedric sword that works well against mages in return.

It goes without saying that there are lots of options.

Except if you kill umbra during the deadric quest i dont think it counts as a murder. You would have to do it before getting the quest.

And then you make the quest not make sense lol

I think in one game I engaged her until she got hostile. It wasn't during a quest, I was trying to explore sites as I found them so as not to lose track of what sites I explored. I had forgotten about her and Umbra and stepped on the quest by killing her. I don't remember if it was murder.

I overwrote a game in which I'd already been visited by Lucien Lachance. I'm trying to remember who I killed. I think I accidentally killed an NPC on a road fighting a creature when he got in front of a fireball or something.

Killing the Orc adventurer you find in random sites is murder too. The Wiki says killing Falcar counts but they must mean not during the quest. Killing him is the only way to exit.
The biggest problem is making sure the NPC you kill doesn't belong to any of the factions you belong too.

Grey prince also counts if you finish his quest

That always bothered me....cheats you out of an epic fight and is treated like a murder too.

It counts as a murder, but isn’t ‘treated’ like a murder (i.e. no bounty is acquired)

Well. Never ever ever leaves it. He's a drunk who just stands inside waiting for you to break in.

It is a little hard to kill Rufio before he appears in the game...

I took great pleasure in choosing him.

Best NPC to kill for Dark Brotherhood quest initiation is Alval Uvani. He travels from city to city so on certain days he is in certain cities. You can check his schedule on wiki. He is best option for kill because he will count as an innocent (even though he is obviously not) and also you will have to kill him anyways later on in quest line which only makes it easier if you kill him now. It's best one to begin quest but be careful as he is master in destruction and can prove to be quite challenging. He is not hostile until you attack him but he will be sharp on tongue.Although, sometimes he just gets bugged and doesn't use spells at all which makes fight a lot easier. Also, he is allergic to mead so if u drop mead near him and he drinks it,he will be paralyzed for short time so you can deal extra damage.Don't kill him in cities as it will put bounty on you for murder if there are witnesses. You can also kill him with poisoned apple that you can get from fort Farragut but he always seem to prefer to eat something else in my case. Remember, don't rely on someone helping you to kill him because it has to be you who lands the final killing blow in order for quest to be initiated. Good luck & have fun!

I remember running into him in the sewers in one game. He attacked me. This was after the Crowhaven quest. I don't think he was killable , and only became unconscious. He's essential to the Arena quest, but I could be wrong. I play each game differently and now only go into the sewers on quests.

Are you saying that you found the Grey Prince in some random sewers? That’s news to me

Yes. I think it was under the Bloodworks. And I think I sniped Umbra thinking she was a bandit and killing her was a murder. I try to explore locations as I find them to keep track of what I've explored.

Here's a link to possible targets, but it contains spoilers:

This game has a lot of random elements. I once decided to follow someone in the Imperial City carrying a torch. Not Draconis, the guy who says [snort]. The guy headed off to a cave I hadn't discovered yet. He took most of the damage and got killed, while my character got all the loot.
I've never seen the guy again in other play throughs.

Glarthir at the end of his conspiracy quest, or any of the people he asks you to kill.
I just killed Glarthir when he attacks at the end of his quest, and it did not count as murder.

You either have to kill him before you report on the 3rd suspect ( especially if you plan to tell him the truth where no one is spying on him ) or murder one of the three he asks you to.

I had a quick save just before I picked Glarthir's pocket after giving him the second piece of bad news. Killing him then was considered murder ( witnessed by unseen forces ). I also killed David Surille for him and it also counted as a magically seen murder.

No one is spying on him?! Have you actually played this quest?

Pretty sure that was just some pale orc or an orc vampire. There's plenty of vampires down there, and an orc vampire can be mistaken for the champion, by racist imperials. Grey Prince should do nothing but stay in bloodworks training, until the match with him.

Also, already provided the link (more specifically scrolled to the list), quite a few posts previously.

Perhaps read what I posted again.
