The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

so boring for me compared to skyrim
I finished this game for the first time, and the main plot is so boring to me, because I just have to collect artifacts and kick the bad guy's ass, "find this, find that, blah blah" Also the game world seems to be empty

But how can I unlock the full potential of this game?

Main story is kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in Oblivion with those Oblivion gates. The start and end is good though.

The main plot is not it's finest hour. However the guild quests are individual complete stories that most people find superior. Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild are my favourites. Also, if you have it, the Shivering Isles dlc is excellent.

The main reason why you've found the world boring is because unlike in Skyrim, the location of each city halls are revealed already from the start, meaning that you don't have to travel so much while doing the main quest.

Try to sublate fast traveling around if you can. Try to spend your time looking at stuff and explore the world for yourself.

If you haven't done the Shivering Isle, make sure to do that as well.

I thought this was the definition of quests in Skyrim. I assume you found the quests of Skyrim doesn't likely progress like this?

certainly skyrim is also "just bring it", but the dialogues seemed to me a little more elaborate, more immersion, more events and stuff like that. But now I was thinking, it doesn't matter, because many years have passed since the release of oblivion

Thieves, Mages and Dark Brotherhood are fun.
You should play as thieve-assassin with some magic skills. And install some mods to remove auto-leveling. That way the game can be better then Skyrim

Yeah the main story in Oblivion is very mediocre. The game shines during side quests though.

Go to the Oblivion Mod Nexus, If you want a completely 180 degree turn on Oblivion, I highly suggest downloading everything (or whatever you like) from Bevilex's Master Modlist.

If you do, follow the instructions to the ABSOLUTE T. Dot every i. Theres a lot of compatability stuff involved. Good luck! Im having a blast with the mods myself, check my hours played.

Oblivion is its side quests, not main story lines. Guildes are much better, side quests are far much better than in skyrim. DLC Shivering Isles in probably best DLC Bethesda ever made.

Oblivion is the second worst elder scrolls after arena imo, so there's not a whole lot of potential to unlock.
Still there's some good stuff in the game, the shivering isles dlc is imo the best Bethesda dlc to date despite it being one of my least favourites of their games.
The guild quests are good for a single play through too

Haha, that was a bold statement.

There is the Vilja companion mod for Oblivion, she have a lot to say. Oblivion is good to play because of Vilja.

Edit: And Julan for Morrowind. Julan is a very good companion mod even though not voiced, but it is not the best idea to install it the first time. He however add a lot of depth to the game.

I feel you there. I've done everything I can to make the base game feel fun, but it all just feels like a chore compared to Skyrim. Skyrim feels much more fluid and realistic, and overall more polished. Oblivion feels stiff, and the world doesn't feel life-like. I love the color palette, everything still looks beautiful to this day, but I just can't play for 5 minutes until I get bored. And it's not due to the fact that it's old, I love exploring in WoW which might be an MMO, but it feels like it has soul where Oblivion just feels linear and lifeless sometimes.

Oblivion>Skyrim the main quest is pretty banger in oblivion idk what yall talking about, if it looked prettier like skyrim yall would be saying it was better.

truth is skyrim copied oblivion, so. And oblivion has more things to do, better rpg mechanics. And i'm sorry but we are playing this for the rpg purposes lmao this aint cod story mode i could care less about the main story, im making my own story in this world.

Hey you know you could be the bad guy right

Well, it sounds to me like you just rushed through the game because you somehow have the impression that fast gaming is good gaming. RPG's aren't about the destination, they are about the journey and you clearly missed most of that journey by focusing on the main quest.
