can't equip anything- just started

got the game and was really excited to play but there's this circle with numbers on it that the weapons i click appear on, but it stayes on screen from the moment i launch the game, and i can't use anything. i was really happy to play the game... anyone knows what is wrong? thanks!

You've activated the Hotkeys menu. That appears if you press one of the number button on your keyboard at the same time you equip a weapon. It's supposed to go away once you release the number button, so the issue may be with your keyboard. By any chance, does your computer have a "Sticky Keys" function?

i have started a new game entirely and the moment the game starts, it's already there. :(

It sounds to me like your keyboard and I agree with Valden it could be a sticky keys problem. You're not the first person to have this issue but most threads are from people with controllers. They suggest unplug (in your case, mouse and keyboard); check your keyboard that none of the keys are stuck down; restart computer and plug mouse and keyboard back in. Restart game.

If it is a sticky key issue the easiest way is, apparently (I've never tried it) to press your shift key 5 times. Otherwise you can turn them off in settings.
