Constructions Set Usage
So, I have been playing around with construction set, and I have decided to make quite a few new items with unique effects, abilities, text... The problem is that I cannot find any of the original game's textures (such as .NIF files) to use for those items. I don't need to make any new textures, since I am fine using the same models for new items, so shouldn't I be able to somehow find the textures already installed and use them for multiple items?
So far the best solution I've come up with is to modify the traits of an item you don't mind losing which already has files associated. However, this is not ideal since I don't want to have to lose any items.

All of Bethesda's meshes and textures are stored in BSA files, so you can't point your item to them using the Construction Set.

You have to first use BSA Extractor to remove the files from the BSA and place them into the proper folder as loose files, and then you should be able to point to it in the folder while using the Construction Set.

You should only have to extract the meshes and point your item to the mesh as the mesh points to the texture. If you extract the meshes folder place it into the Data folder.

Once you have your ESP changes set you should be able to delete the meshes you extracted from the BSA.

Thanks. I had begun to expect something like that, but now it looks like I'm really not going to get around it.

I usually create items from vanilla items with new ablity.
In this case you just select an item you wnat use as base item.
Select one in object window.
Then Create new ID (name it as you like) so Editor will ask you "Create new Form?"
Click 'yes' so you can create new item with vanilla texture.

I guess I should have known that, but I was too focused on trying to answer the question and it didn't cross my mind that I was interpreting the question too literally.
