Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2 install blockhead
Has anyone managed to get this working on the Steam version? I installed everything as per the instructions yet I always get the "Install blockhead" texture. I used a tool that tells me if OBSE is running and it tells me it is not, but the instructions are simple and I followed them... Is there something I'm missing?

Aye. My steps was:

1. (From OBSE installation guide)

Steam version
1. Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_steam_loader.dll to your Oblivion directory. This is usually "C:\\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\common\oblivion".
2. Ensure you have enabled the Steam community in-game, or OBSE will fail to load. Go to Steam > Settings > In-Game and check the box marked "Enable Steam Overlay".
And drop Data folder from zip to directory where oblivion.exe is, with merging

2. Drop Blockhead.dll to /Data/OBSE/Plugins/ from blockhead zip
3. I personally used OBMM. Create -> Add archive -> Choose OCO archive that was dowloaded from nexus -> Create omod
Then activate it by double-clicking.

No problems encountered

Did exactly that, several times on a clean install... Still not working...

Which one?
Perhaps the problem is in OBSE. Did you try another mod that require OBSE? Does it work?
Also, try Archive Invalidation just in case. Both Wrye Bash and OBMM support that. In case with OBMM this option available under Utilities button

Install OBSE Test Plugin to check if OBSE even works.

yes, it says OBSE is not working, but the instructions are pretty straightforward and I did twice on a clean install.

ever get this to work?

You may have something blocking oblivion from loading the dll.
Make sure the oblivion.exe is a trusted file in your antivirus.

Run both Oblivion and steam in admin mode.

Sigh. I was having trouble and un and reinstalled and ect. Did some digging around and had seen people with similar problems.

I swear to the gods I think I know what one of the biggest problems is, only took me a few hours to figure out. I noticed that the install instructions for OBSE...

"Copy obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, obse_loader.exe, and the data folder to your Oblivion directory (where Oblivion.exe is)" can make it seem like only 2 files plus the Data need to be installed. IMHO, laugh all you want, it should read like this:

Copy
1. obse_1_2_416.dll
2. obse_editor_1_2.dll
3. obse_loader.exe
4. data folder
to your Oblivion directory (where Oblivion.exe is)

Being special isn't easy!

It's easy enough. Just download OBSE again, and move all the files from OBSE into the Oblivion file directory, then click replace files on destination.

If yuo are using Mod Organizer 2, follow these instructions to make sure OBSE is running properly:

Jesus christ dude thank you so much for that link, Managed to fix everything right away

For me, manually clicking the obse loader in the folder fixed my particular problem. But only when I clicked that particular.

OBSE refuses to function properly when loaded from steam, regardless of if I have steam overlay on or off.
Judge Cudge Sep 17, 2023 @ 11:08pm
Ok apparently from my spelunking I've learned that due to nonsense OBSE dependencies on the steam overlay, if you have more than one drive on your computer and steam is on a different drive than your Oblivion game, OBSE will never run when you launch the game normally, and can all and only be activated by hitting the obse loader.exe.

Apparently this is being fixed soon, but hot damn does it not feel good.
