What's the difference between fire shield and resist fire spell effects
i got a ring that does 7% fire shield and one that does 10% resist fire. What's the difference?

Fire Shield gives you bonus armour (just like the Shield effect) as well as fire resistance, i.e. 7% fire shield = +7 armour and +7% fire resistance. It's pretty useful. =)
