changing settings( the game does not recognice my hardweare wich i will get to later)
but alas, nothing.

i have checked google and so far i have:
deleted oblivion.ini(My ducuments) several times
deleted all saves
verifeid game integrety 3 times
uninstaled and re installed 3-4 times
configured the .ini

im at my wits end so i turn to you guys(and gals) for help

i'm running windows 10 64-bit

gtx 970
16gb ram

this game used to work like 6 months ago, modded it to h**l and back. good memorys.
i only have gtoy on steam but if all else fails i do have a goty in retail.

I have the excact same problem... Oblivion Launcher crashes as soon as I click play on steam. Literally working with no problems whatsoever on Windows 10 about six months ago until now.

so it might be one of those infamous ms updates?
or your latest driver doesnt support the game anymore.

Mine has done 3 updates to Windows in the last week so I just checked it out and game ran fine.

allright now we are getting somewere.
too bad it looks like to be a too complicated issue for me or most people to handle,
as it might need a patch for it to work on windows 10.

does anyone else have this issue? and maybe anyone have a specific idea of what might cause it?

hey man, I don't know if you're running the Fall Creators update version of windows 10 Ver 1709 I believe. Anyway for me to get that to run with my current setup 165 mods + custom FCOM, I had to reinstall OBSE, and use the GOG version loader, use the 4GB patch from NTcore (not the one from nexus) on the oblivion.exe. I also do not have Steam.exe, Oblivion.exe or the Launcher running with admin rights, (if you use Windows version 1703 I had to give Steam.exe and Oblivion.exe Admin rights to get it to run properly) I also have overlay turned off. Anywho, hope you get it working dude!

If you already refreshed the ini, and make sure you don't have any loose dll files from an enb or that you're missing a crucial part of obse that could make the start up crash. if you have stutter remover (obse plugin) it could be configured incorrectly like with iheap. You said you've modded in the past so I have no doubt you're familiar with BOSS, you could always try to mess with your load order, even if you're not using mods. Also if you happen to be using darnified UI, or even if you're not, make sure you don't have any xml files floating around, and that the fonts are properly configured in the ini and fonts folder if you are using it.. I take it you've modded it heavily before, so you probably know what you're doing, just tossing out ideas. Also, 1 last idea. is if you've ever installed it on steam, and had any mods installed, sometimes if you use a manager, files get left behind, and when you uninstall the game the mods aren't uninstalled. Check out Wryebash, and click on installers tab, and clean data. that can purge the data folder sometimes. Other then that, drivers, directX9. Hope I didn't insult your intelligence.

rest assured i'm realy hard to insult, and while i have modded the game to h**l and back, i have to admit i don't always know what im doing.

and for that i won't mind, i fact i encurage you to talk to like a 5 year old( not being sarcastic but all im saing is that i would appresiate clarity)

i will try to do a complet re-install again and make shure there is nothing left, then try wryebash and BOSS.

Uncheck all the boxes for everything but the offical and un-offical patches you have then try to run the game. Oh by the way it also fails to detect my hardware but gives no issue running the game.

Also noticed you are using Windows 10 also. One thing I do since I play old games (emulators and so on) is to set it for Direct Play. It may help so just hit the Windows Key + R and type optionalfeatures then find the folder Legacy Components then check the box for direct play.

Apparently my oblivion.esm file was unchecked. I checked it and my game started to work again. Try doing that. Under the data files
