Oblivion gates
Is it just me or are they just an annoying task you have to do, with sometimes decent loot and lots of profit to be made?

Like, they're sometimes fun to do but a lot of the time they seem repetitive and don't always have the best loot aside from crafting ingredients or lots of daedra hearts to sell.

Could just be me, but they're more like a chore than something I always enjoy.

You don't have to do them.
Just do the main quest ones, there's only a few. If you were only doing them, by the time you should consider them repetitive, you should have finished the main quest.

Without mods they are essential for Sigil stones to enchant your own armour but I always hated having to go through the process of getting to the final tower. I used to have a lot of followers like the Jemane brothers and they were generally good at staying alive around so much lava but would sometimes fall off the narrow bridges that connect the towers. If a follower fell in the lava they were doomed even if they were essential so the Oblivion realm is not a good place to take followers. Unless they are summon followers which is all I use now.

There is a mod that gives you wings so right at the start from entering the gate you can just fly to the Sigil Tower and cut out a lot of time getting there. You also lose out on a lot of enemies that carry high value items so I like to enter the gate, fly to the final tower entrance and then climb it with a few summons (Midas Angel and Midas Golum) so I can pick up some loot from the human enemies that spawn in Sigil towers.

I agree, that's a bit tedious part of the game, but it doesn't take long to close each gate, so overall, I guess it's okay.

Once you've seen every iteration of an oblivion gate, it just becomes tedious..many play throughs I've just ran right through, bypassing enemies to get to the end then grabbed the stone and called er a day

Yes, closing oblivion gates is annoying. The problem is they are very repetitive and when you travel through the underground tunnels it's easy to get lost without constantly checking the map.

Most of cave dungeons are short and most of ayleid ruins have a good layout, secret passages, good loot and enemy variety. Yet in oblivion it's always the same enemies, the same towers, the same traps and, for the most part, no decent loot. Even sigil stones are rarely good enough.

What i Learned with oblivion gates just run past the enamys and just keep running all the way up to the sigil stone grab it and just block enamy wont beable to keep up with u and u can just run threw a oblivion gate in like a couple minutes and close it there very easy really u can close them with out having to kill a single enamy and once you do they all die and some times left outside the gate the ones inside the main room with the sigil stone. =P

Sure you mite miss out on loot but eventully once u level high enough merchants will start carring deadric gear and bandits and other enamy will have it on them and looting deadric planes kinda pointless sense all the items can be gotten from other means outside the oblivion gate.
The only real thing of value in a oblivion gate is the Sigil stone thats the main thing of value cause the best Enchant specially for weapon is a Sigil stone if your high enough level sense sigil stones scale to your level so its best to get to like level 25 or so before you start doing the main quest and cause the oblivion gates to spawn.

As for money money becomes very easy like i said once you get to level 24 or 25 around there enamy will start wearing deadric and deadric enchanted gear witch sells for alot and all the good name items are gotten outside of the oblivion gates sense oblivion gates loot is random generated so you will beable to find what u will loot in a oblivion gate armor and enchant wise every where else in the game once u level to 24-25. =)

Tedious. Turn on no clipping, head straight to the top of the tower. 60 seconds max.
