The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Since I Finished the Main Quest I Have No Desire to Play Anymore?
I read somewhere that once the main quest in Oblivion is completed it is not the same game anymore. I have found that my desire to play has dropped off dramatically. It is as if my character has completed all he was suppose to do in his Oblivion Life and now it is time to retire. Everything else seems unimportant.

How do you top saving the world from the Oblivion version of Hell? Everything else seems unimportant.

Did you do the unearthing mehrunes razor. Knights of nine. And most importantly the shivering isles dlc. You can save a madgods world from an invasion and then become a mad god, that can be more important

Did the Knights of the Nine at the same time as the Main Quest which worked out well since I was able to take another knight with me to the main battle at Bruma and he probably made the difference between defeat and victory. The Count of Cheydinhal would not speak to me because I killed his son in Oblivian so no soldiers from him.

When I finish the main story in games that enter freeplay mode I lose all interest even if there are other side quests to do because there doesn't seem any reason to continue playing. Not just with Oblivion but also with games like Stalker and GTA. When I started my current game I decided to do as few main quests as possible because I knew when the main quest is complete it's all over so I do all the guild quests and scour Nexus for quest mods, decorate my homes and train to increase skills instead. Or just hang out in taverns drinking ale and relaxing.

You could make a new character and look into doing the guild questlines now?

do the guild questlines some of them are harder than the main questline!

I have well over 1000 hours logged in this game among 6 characters and have yet to start the main quest. Perhaps your answer is in that somewhere. Were I to give any advice, it would probably be to play something else for a while, then come back to this with a new character and not to rush the main quest. Cyrodil will be o.k. without a new emperor for a while.

I kind of feel like a soldier who has come back from the wars and reentered civilian life and nothing is the same anymore. Once you have been to hell nothing is quite the same anymore. Civilian life is boring...

PS. Cyrodil does not have a new Emperor at least at the end of the main quest. Martin is no longer with us and the gates have been closed.

Ah. Well, not having done the main quest yet, I diidn't know that. I just assumed delivering the amulet would have been a "crowning" achievement. Get it? Crowning... meh. Nevermind. :steamhappy:

I always kill everything in a horrible way once I finish main quests in games. Why wouldn't you? You're uberlevelled anyway by that point and usually can take out a city. Since I play literally living saint characters, it's always a laugh.

Also, who would stay and "freeplay" after the main quest is done? That's like re-using toilet paper. Ugh. Life is too short and there are way too many good games.

I never actually finished the main quest, except Shivering Isles. I dunno, I got lost and just kept playing.

Since I never played any Elder Scroll games it took me about 140-160 hours to complete the main quest and several others along the way. I diverted occasionally but always returned to the main quest. The new Imperial Dragon Armor looks nice on me along with being the Champion of Cyrodill and it is nice stopping off at Bruma and seeing a statue of yourself near the center of town.

I actually started off with Skyrim and then tried Oblivion which hooked me. Skyrim does not interest me as much and I do not know why.

I know what you feel.
My Champion of Cyrodill felt same feeling.
All he did after Martin death was broght Erthor back to Skingrad ( Erthor had been good companion all through the main quest from Kvatch to Temple of the One)
I created other characters and they completely avoid meetin Martin even if they released Kvatch from Enemies seizure.
