Quit the game, relaunch, and load that save from the main menu. Bethesda's games aren't too good at "cleanly" loading saves otherwise.
Also, if you know the mod or you post your load order and maybe we can identify the mod, we could take a look at its innards to see if there's other ways around it too.
EDIT: (*) Caveat here: that would also remove any items/followers/containers you gained from that mod! So only do this if you're totally sure you won't be losing anything that matters to you by doing it.
I had not yet gained any items from the mod. Only some quest log notifications and a map marker (which stuck around after loading the save with the mod disabled for the record). I can post my load order, but it's a big boatload of stuff and the issue seems fairly pinpointed.
I'm afraid I'm not an advanced enough user to go digging around the insides of the mod itself.
Thanks for the suggestions though! I'll get back.
I'll take a look at the mod's scripts as soon as I can and see if I can see anything that could help.
And yeah, good point! Always backup your saves before doing a remove bloat or anything else that can change it :)
The effect is now gone, did a little 5 minute test run. I did sift through the mod description, and you need to finish the main quest before you can start malevolent - something I've not yet done in my current playthrough.
The unbloated savegame also threw no errors or anything, so that's good ... I guess? I hope nothing's broke in the long run.
So, It's fixed, thankfully. Thanks a lot for the suggestions and help!
I believe all Simyaz mods are all top notch quality, but most specially his companion mod (Ruined Tail), but just be on the lookup for known issues and stuff... as those kind of old mods have, since they are from a time before much was known about Oblivion modding.
I remember there used to be a post/thread somewhere with known issues and workaround... perhaps if you find an issue you could still find it...
But I hope you'll be able to finish it without issues at all!
