Oblivion.esm Problem
Installed game and everything is checked except for Oblivion.esm and I don't know if that needs to be checked or not since the dlc ones are.

Without the Oblivion.esm there is no game. Oblivion.esm is the master file for Oblivion.exe, which means if it does not run, it will not boot up Oblivion at all since that is the file that contains all the records for every npc/quest/item/monster/skill/etc etc in Oblivion itself.

Fortunately, the game loads Oblivion.esm regardless as to whether it's checked or not.

If the game is otherwise working for you, then you have no problem. If it's not, you'd be better off describing your symptoms rather than jumping ahead and asking about things you think might be the cause.
