The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Am I Diseased?
I recently noticed that both my inteligance and willpower are being reduced by either 5 or 10 points each. This happened after I contracted a disease, but that disease only reduced agility by 5 and I cured it with a potion in less than a day. I started hearing odd sounds like my character's stomach rumbling for food so i thought that maybe eating or sleeping (instead of resting) would do it, but nothing changed. There's nothing listed in my equipment as imposing a penalty to those stats and the magic effets page doesn't display any reductions either, but that stats show up as red and I know they are less than what they should be. I need help figuring this out.

Ah, that's easy. They're damaged. Damage effects won't appear in the magic effects list because they cause permanent reduction that lasts even after the spell's over, so dispel won't do anything. Use a restore attribute effect. There's spells, potions, even blessings at temples should do it, so you have plenty of options.

Oh thank you. I've been wondering about this since i play this 12 years ago. Very annoying to not have it displayed on the magic effects page.

The simplest way to cure it is to pray at a temple.

Once I have access to spellcrafting though I always create spells to cure each attribute. Even if it's just by 5 points it's easy to spam. If you aren't effected by anything in effects page, it's damaged.

It also pays to unequip every stat buff item every now and again to check if all stats are good. Any buffed stats will not tell you that you're damaged until the buff is passed by damage.

Couldn't reach a temple since i was stuck in the imperial city doing early game stuff. alchemy helped me out. The shops there have all you need.

You are allowed to leave the IC at the start of the game...

Sure, you're allowed, but that doesn't mean it fits into your plans. Some of us fight in the arena and live in a clam.

Maybe your character could do with a bit of religion

I just didn't want to. I was role playing the character to only do things in and around imperial city before heading off into the outside world. yeah, i could have just run off or fast traveled to another city, but that's not how i wanted to play the game.

You know there's an entire district in the city that has a temple in right? It's even named after it. Even if you can't use it as a shrine (I can't remember) there's a healer there.

i knew about the temple, but not the healer. This is my first time actually exploring the city and talking to it's residents (yet i've been playing this since launch in 2006). I'm guessing the healer is that woman that's usually standing inside the temple?
