Recharging Enchanted Weapons
Is there a way to recharge enchanted weapons yourself instead of paying someone to do it? It's kind of expensive.

You can also use filled soul gems.

Just like Skyrim, then. Thanks!

Oblivion offers a third method - Varla Stones, found in some Ayleid ruins. These fully recharge everything you're carrying, but they're single-use and don't ever respawn.

How does one use a filled soul gem to recharge a weapon?

I seem to be missing something.
Must the weapon you want to recharge be equipped?

No, i think you just click on the filled soul gem in your inventory. It'll come up with a list of items that can be recharged iirc

There is also a fourth method. If you have both a copy of the book 'Arcana Restored' and gold nuggets in your inventory, you can use the "magicka essence " fonts/fountains in the Oblivion plane to refill all magic charges (like a Varla stone) at the cost of one gold nugget. [Paraphrased from the game tutorial pop-up.]

Of course, this also consumes the book, making it entirely impractical and possibly a "one-time" event.

Thanks all... I'm able to get things working now. Not sure what my problem was before ;-)

You could use the duplicate item glitch to get multiple copies of the book and nuggets though. Bethesda never bothered patching that out.

They did patch the dupe glitch for certain items like Shadowbanish wine and Nirnroot.

But seeing how they exclusively patched only certain items, it is true that they didn't boyher to patch the rest.

I guess it's an official feature, since they know the existance of the bug, but they just left it alone?

Why dupe those when you could just dupe filled grand gems? That'd make much more sense, especially since Oblivion Gates don't reopen after closed and a book and filled grand gems should weigh roughly the same.

Using this does NOT consume the book, it just consumes a Gold Nugget. I just went down a rabbithole of my own and found out this also only works if you have the Unofficial Oblivion Patch installed. The Vanilla PC and Console games do not have this mechanic.
