Keep getting bit by vamprires in my sleep?
No mods, my character keeps getting bitten by vampires no matter where he sleeps, I am not far enough into the game to have my own house. Tried every city and 1 cave and I am made into a vampire every time!

What happened is you probably got the vamp disease before. their is an amount of time that goes by when you can still cure vampirism with a cure disease potion. After that time period...You're a vampire.

If your character goes three full days without curing Porphyric Hemophilia, the next time they sleep, they'll become a vampire. This is true even if they cure themselves before sleeping - if they dallied three days, then sleeping will turn them and that's that.

Also, your character's not getting bit by vampires while sleeping, it's that they fought some vampires and picked up Porphyric Hemophilia in the process. That's why they're turning into a vampire. There's a small chance your character gets Porphyric Hemophilia if they get hit by a vampire in melee combat. A cure for vampirism does exist, but it's tied to a quest, and the quest is reputed to be buggy. Better to avoid the whole thing if possible.

Yeah you're not going to be able to get rid of this now unles you go to a save before contracting Porphyric Hemophilia, or you get it cured. Seek out Raminus Polus in The Arcane University, he can start the quest for a cure.

I don't have Porphyric Hemophilia though, I have no diseases atm with my character. I have already been to the chapel in Bruma to pray and that still has not affected it.

Was able to fix this by entering "set pcvampire to -1" into the console

Yes I suppose cheating is one way :P

But you must have had porphyric hemophilia, after a few in game days it will manifest as vamprirsm and stop showing as Porphyric Hemophilia, which is what happened to you.

I know, what we've all been trying to say is that at a certain point it will have stopped showing up so it wouldn't be there because the transformation had already occured

I know this is a long time after this thread but getting bit is very very possible. I had an encounter once where I killed the old lady behind Bruma and slept in her house. I always made that my house every play through. I woke up once and a vampire was in the house and it said I had contracted porphyric hemophilia and the vampire attacked me on sight. Idk why people say this is impossible when I remember it quite clearly. It's only happened once and it was the freakiest thing I ever experienced while playing Oblivion.

Nah man it can happen. I always killed the old lady behind Bruma and make her house mine. I once woke up and there was a vampire in my house and it said I had contracted porphyric hemophilia as soon as I woke up and the vampire attacked me after he saw me but I killed him before he hit me. This was after playing the game for 20 minutes at level 1 and I hadn't fought anything except in the imperial sewers at game start.

This can not happen in the base game. It's literally not programmed into the game. The only way that can happen is through mods
