The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

INCREDIBLE lags on a good PC! Help!
So i've installed the game and i have problems with perfomance. It doesn't even reach 60 fps(except indoor locations), moreover sometimes it feels like 28-30 and i have regular FPS drops outdoors.
The settings are highest.
My PC - AMD FX6300, GTX 1050, 12 GB DDR3. Wtf? Is it even normal that the game lags like that? Btw I play Battlefield 1, R6 Siege, The Witcher and games like that and everything is smooth.
Please help! May be there is a patch or something.

Two words: engine limitations. You can have a NASA computer, it will be the same.

However, you should have a little more fps than that.
Install the mod 'oblivion stutter remover'

Oblivion hangs out only on 1 core. So your FX sucks here. Hello from 2006 ;)
Good luck reading all the "stability" article:
https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/47591/?
Also try the 4gb patch. You can use it on any older game. It makes the game run on 4gb ram insteadof 2gb

its your amd fx these are really bad with single core performance.

Agree. Amd is bad for gaming. I ahavean older laptop acer i5 3nd gen with an nvidia m710. Runs most games on high without any lag. Runs oblivion with 30 mods wihout fps drops on max settings. When you have the money, buy nvidia

the fx might be pretty bad in the single core front, but i have run the game on an athlon x4 without too much trouble, and that's barely any better

OSR, OR's framerate function and various other tweaks should make the game about as buttery smooth as it can get

4GB patch might help. Also try Oblivion Stutter Remover, though it can cause some sound issues (no combat sounds like weapons hitting enemies and such). Oblivion runs perfectly fine for me with Oblivion Reloaded and Qarl's Texture packs, which really improve the game's graphics.

OSR's sound issues are a weird thing, to be honest

it's usually linked to the heap replacement option, but some people have problems only when it's enabled; i've only ever had issues when heap replacement was disabled

OR's renderboost function is an alternative solution, but the limited time i spent fiddling with it didn't really impress me all that much, and i ended up just turning that function off
