Battlemage builds
Hello! I want to play as classic battlemage, do you have any ideas and builds?

You could always try the inbuilt Battlemage class as a starting point (Str/Int , Magic Spec, Alchemy Alteration Blade Blunt Conjuration Destruction Mysticism).

If I were to tweak it, I’d remove Alchemy Blunt and Mysticism as Majors (not to say that you couldn’t use these skills, I just wouldn’t have them as Majors), and instead take Block, Heavy Armour and Restoration. And maybe Combat Spec too, given that Magic skills are easy to increase.

If you wanna get real min/ max’y then technically Endurance /Luck is the best combo for Max HP and easy maxing of stats, but it doesn’t help a Battlemage much at the start of the game. Your call.

So I suppose then something like:

Str/ Int or End/Luck , Combat Focus , Alteration Blade Block Conjuration Destruction Heavy Armour Restoration.

For race, I’d go Breton (because Bretons are very strong in Oblivion, on top of being suited to Magic), but you could probably choose a number of things.

For sign, I’d either go Mage for extra Magicka, or Warrior for extra stats.

Mine is something like...

Male Altmer, Mage birthsign, combat-specialization, Strength and Endurance as my major stats, Serpent doomstone. My major skills are Alchemy, Restoration, Destruction, Marksman, Blunt, Block & Heavy Armor.

Just a mace&shield fella clad in heavy armor and a lot of tools to play with. I'm not OCD when it comes to the principles of efficient leveling, but I find this build to be quite streamlined and easy-to-control in terms of progression without having to jump through hoops.

I like the Mage birthsign over Apprentice or Atronach because it's still a fair bit of mana--in tandem with the +100 bonus from being an Altmer--without stunting mana regeneration or making myself even less resilient to elemental damage. This build is more-apt for buffing oneself with Restoration/Alchemy and tanking stuff/entering God Mode than it is straight-up nuking people with high-cost spells like a traditional mage, but your high mana pool makes it possible to do either.
