dont want to get arrested

how do i find the stolen item in my pack so i dont get arrested?
if i sleep my time off i lose all the stats i got in the last week, it seems a lot to lose.
none of the items in my pack seem any different from any other and i dont remember stealing( i xcan tell the difference in the curser)

a red hand on the item shows if it's stolen if you move the reticule over something say a chest or a door or an item and it's red that means you'll be breaking the law by opening the chest entering the house picking up the item etc etc etc if you do pick up an item as i said it will have a red hand in the inventory and you can't sell it without joining the thieve's guild

Stolen items have a red hand over it to it.
Grabbing/dragging items (Seperate from picking them up) also counts as stealing so if you dragged an owned object and dropped it but were seen, then you'll still be wanted for theft without it being in your inventory.
Check that you haven't filtered your items in your inventory by looking at a specific tab (such as weapons or misc.).

If you're in the thieves guild, you can pay a cheaper price to have your wanted status removed & can sell your stolen items to them.
If not in the thieves guild, go to the Imperial City waterfront (the shacks specifically) at midnight and find a man with a torch.

Dropping stolen items won't remove your bounty - odds are you dropped the item already, assuming you even stole something in the first place. The guards may be after you for a different reason.

You either remove your fine (and hence wanted status) through the guards, or you remove it through the thieves guild.
