Given that you’ve already made your character, i would either commit to learning how Alchemy works (so as to make plenty of potions for yourself), or just restart and make something else. The Mage is probably the safest choice , and it is possible to boost Magcial reserves with Sigil Stones to high levels later in the game.
I’d personally just restart your character and pick Mage. Atronach is a bit of a chore to deal with.
