I hope you are using Wyre Bash. That makes modding Oblivion significantly easier.
From my experience (and I have sh¡t-ton of mods installed through years), usually game starts crashing because of some mod screwed oblivion.ini (custom fonts is the first that comes to mind) or because of some mod in general (incorrect load order, missing master files etc.). Also there is usually no magic "press to fix everything" button. Always keep/make backups, use handy mod manager (Wrye Bash, or you could try to break your head and figure out how to use MO). As soon as you understand that it will be easier to improve your modding experience and troubleshoot the errors. Or if it's too difficult for you just install some textures and simple plugins and don't bother with it. Cheers.
