World object interactions
So I've noticed a problem which may or may not be a bug, but here goes.

When using benches or containers or anything requiring the ,,interact" button, the ,,hitbox" seems to be a little messed up. I often interact with stuff I'm not looking at and I'm having a hard time finding the spot on an object that allows me to interact with it. I'm playing with a few mods. Is this problem present in the vanilla game too? If it is, then is there a mod to fix it?
If it's a bug, then what might be causing the problem?

It's a fairly common thing in games to have two models per object: one for the renderer to show to the user, and a much more simple "collision" mesh for the physics engine and so on to work with. This technique has even been used with sprite-based games.

Usually you'd expect the collision mesh to always cover the full rendered area of the object, so if you're looking at or close to it you'll hit a point you can "interact" with. This isn't always the case, however, and how well the meshes match usually depends on how complex the object looks.

I play vanilla, no problem as you describe for me.

I'm talking about having to search for 15 seconds to be able to use a tavern bed. Mostly because the game just really wants me to pick up those apples or sit in that chair or check out the stuff in the cupboard. Might be exaggerating the time, although not likely. Pretty sure that's not texture not exactly matching the collision box.

Textures don't really come into what I'm talking about. Those are the images that're draped over the rendered meshes - it's the meshes that define the actual shapes of each object.

You shouldn't have trouble with something the size of a bed. Does it make a difference whether you're in third or first person?

It doesn't seem to make a difference. Now that I started up the game again though, it doesn't seem to be as bad as it was earlier, if that even makes sense. From what I remember, it really felt like the collision meshes were in the wrong place, and didn't match the items location.
But right now I don't detect the same problem, which is weird. Going to come back to this thread if it occurs again though.

Yup, occurred again.

Restarting the game seems to be able to fix it.
Occurred right after I rested in the bed.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug. Is there anyone who has encountered this specific issue before?

Normally the mouse pointer should be locked to the middle of the screen. Sometimes, say when you open a menu, attempt to sleep, pick a lock, or whatever, it unlocks from there and you can move it around - but it should snap right back to the middle after that.

I'm guessing it's not re-centering - your screenshots suggest that it's way off to the left of where you're looking.

In the launcher's options menu, are you set to windowed, of full screen? Are you running any game-controller software, or automation software, that could be interfering?

Actually, I'm using the ,,fake fullscreen" mode. Upon further testing, the problem occurs when I use a chair, a bed, or a horse. During the animation of sitting/lying down or mounting/dismounting, the cursor can de-center, it seems.
Also, tried both (windowed, fullscreen) modes and problem occurs regardless of them.

Sorry about necro. But have you found a solution? Having the exact same problem. And it applies to literally everything you can interact with objects, containers, npcs etc.

Never mind. After much frustration I've discovered the culprit was Oblivion Reloaded. No amount of ini editing or anything else I did could fix the issue. Had to uninstall the mod.
