Azani blackheart quest broken

So I'm on the quest Azani blackheart quest in the fighters guild questline. Modryn oreyn told me to go to Arpenia and look for Azani. So I went there and cleared the ruin of rats and mudcrabs. This is where Modryn should approach me and say the ruin is empty and we should go to Atatar. But he doesn't. I triple checked the entire ruin for enemies and he just follows me. And I can't reload a save sice the last one was 6 hours ago. And I really whould like to complete the fighters guild.

You don't actually have to clear the ruin of enemies at all.

You need to go to the location marked M on the map to trigger Modryn talking to you.
