Characters having small heads?
I started this game up two days ago after buying it on the 27th of July and I liked how much more customizable the faces and hair are than in the previous game, ES III: Morrowind. I chose a wood elf and was given a random face which I customized as I went through what I assumed were all of the options available to me. When I was happy with what I had, I started my game.

After going through the catacombs and sewers, I was given an option to customise again and I noticed how small the face was in comparison to the rest of the body. I've basically got this small round head sitting on top of a thick stalk of a neck and what looks like quite a muscular body, even for a wood elf. I'd seen this a few times before when I looked through the inventory screen, too, but I didn't think there was anything I could do about it.

Basically, I am wondering if this is at all normal, or if I've somehow messed up. The face looks fine but it is very disproportionate to the rest of the body and it does irritate me a bit when I look at it.. Is this normal? Will the heads look small no matter what I do to them or could I start over and fix this? (As in, start a new game - I've just left the sewers so it isn't that big a deal to start over.) Or is this something I should just put up with?

Thanks for reading.

Doesn't sound normal, but it's hard to say without seeing the heads in order to compare. I suggest you browse the screenshots section and decide for yourself.

I also suggest starting a new character and hitting the randomisation button a few times during the initial customisation process, just to see how the different heads compare.

I did end up starting a new character after posting this thread, just to test the character customization out some more. Face customization is still wonky but I think I might have overlooked a few things as well. Namely, the random faces the game gives you seem to already be proportionate to the body and if you change them by making the face smaller or thinner then it seems to change the head-to-body ratio, so the body sets the standard and the random pre-loaded faces are made around that. It seems there was a reason my wood elf's face seemed very broad after all... :steamfacepalm:

Oh well. I think I will keep my new character. I saved right before exiting the sewers so there is room for more experimentation.

Thanks for your reply and your suggestion :-)
