Can't change any settings in launcher
I recently upgraded my PC and reinstalled Oblivion, my specs are good and drivers are up to date, but when I try to run the game, the launcher will just set graphics to medium and resolution to 640x480. I tried to change them in settings but after I click OK and enter settings again, Boom-- medium graphics and 640x480.
I also tried to change those settings in the ini file and change it into read only, but the launcher doesn't seems to care, it still set the resolution to 640x480 and it remains that way when the game starts.
I checked some discussions and followed their instructions to disable security apps and run the game in compatibility mode, but none of those method works.
Pls help:lunar2019crylaughingpig:, btw I'm using a 2k 144hz monitor and a gtx1080

Give a try at deleting the ini and verifying the intergrity of game cache to get a new one.

Hi, that sounds really odd. Perhaps check the Nvidia control panel settings, maybe something which is global needs to be app, or vice versa. Not sure if that’s the fix, but I can assure you your gpu and monitor are not the issue; I have the same.

Do u have any enbs/mods installed? This happened to me until I changed the enb settings.
Also like chase said check your Nvidia control panel settings.

You're talking about the copy in your Documents/My Games/Oblivion folder, yeah? The one in the game's installation directory is just a template.

If you're running Windows 10 and have Controlled Folder Access enabled, you'll need to add an exception for Oblivion or it'll have trouble writing to your Documents folder at all. Likewise, if you're running any third-party security tools, there's a good chance they have a similar "anti-ransomware" feature that's messing up the game.

I think maybe I've found the problem... I don't have a ini in the Documents/My Games/Oblivion folder. But I never turned on controlled folder access and also disabled security tools, but it won't help...

Reckon there's still some tool on your system you've skipped over.

You may be able to work around it by right clicking the game's executable in your file explorer, and selecting the option to run it as an administrator.
