What is your choice for player house?
Aside from Imperial City Waterfront Hovel, as I fear that would be most people's answer.

In the base game, Frostcrag Spire perhaps.
I created three homes, my favourite probably being this little house in the Jerall Mountains that i created. It's a small house.

Depends entirely on character.

My assassin for example uses Bravil. Its close to the night mother, and I use the sword racks inside for my blade collection.

My arch mage however, went big, with the Manor in Skingrad. After all, it has the display cases for his extra staffs and a proper bookshelf, desk, etc that a studious mage would need.I even take time to collect and fill the bookshelf, as well as another chest and shelf for scrolls.

Other characters, do other ones, depending on proximity to ones guild, and or other details of their personal story experience.

almost always frostcrag spire. its free, it has spell making and enchanting altars, and while it is very out of the way i usually fast travel constantly anyway. when using a vanilla house its usually skingrad or rarely the waterfront shack if i have lots of cool things i need to store immediately and no gold.

Yeah to people who use fast travel a lot, I guess the location of the houses won't matter for them.

I never use fast travel except when I have to teleport my horse back to where I stand.

Before I earned enough to buy the Waterfront shack I would drop loot on the shore behind it as I had noticed nobody ever walked there so there was no chance of it being picked up by NPCs and it wouldn't despawn. That's my earliest memories of forming a strategy in Oblivion. That was to kick start the campaign of repeated raids on Sundercliff Watch so I could buy Rosethorn Hall. I've installed a lot of new player home mods but I always go back to Rosethorn Hall. My long running game died with my PC a few months ago but I remember the Knights Of The Nine Revelation mod created new locations including a hut like building only a few times bigger than the Waterfront Shack. There were no occupants and the best part was it was pitch black inside so I could use torches and lanterns to illuminate the place.
