I can't level up
When i use stuff for a certain skill, for example, like cast life detection, it will level up my mysticism, but my level for my character won't go up at all, i'll look at the meter in my menu, and it will stay the same after leveling up my mysticism 5 times, h e l p

And after leveling any major skills, in any combination, 10 times.

Only major skills ((the skills you picked towards the end of the sewer tutorial)), contribute to leveling up. You must level up any combination of those skills 10 times and then sleep in a bed to level up, once the level meter hits 100%.

Minor skills leveling up can still contribute to stat bonuses upon level up, but I have a feeling that is a little bit too complicated to get in to with you right now lol.

yeah, i know you have to go sleep, but when i level up one of my skills, it just does not go up at all, the meter in the menu that tells you if you can level up does not move, its probably because i cheated in a previous save and leveled myself to 100 by typing in the console "advlevel" multiple times, but i reloaded a previous save before i done any of that, and i cant level up, and then i started a new game, and i couldnt level up

Again, only your 7 major skills that you picked at the start of the game contribute to your leveling up - leveling up minor skills does not.

Also cheating is never good.

thank you, i didn't know it was only major skills

I play with OOO which makes the leveling in Oblivion I believe 2x slower, might even be 4x. Still got to level 52 in a playthrough.

I recommend not treating it like Skyrim. Explore yourself, go dungeon diving in random caves and ruins for loot, close Oblivion gates for loot (you can close 50 of them). As long as you dont ONLY do quests leveling isnt really an issue.

Except the dungeons and caves, including Oblivion gates are being as generic and boring as possible, making dungeon delvering the last thing that players want to do.

Worse thing about doing all those dungeons and caves that nobody wants to even look at is it's completely unrewarding. On the one in a hundred chance that you actually get something good it's just going to be irrelevant in a few levels. Aside from mods that significantly change how levelling works, like a general exp mod, best way to deal with levelling in Oblivion imo is to brainlessly skill grind and then play the game when you like where you're at.
