Does this work on a 1440p monitor?

Since I'm thinking about getting a 1440p monitor, I was wondering if older games, like Half-Life, GTA III and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion work on such resolutions? I'm still into old games and would still like to play them.

Yes Oblivion is working on a 1440p monitor, just select the resolution in the options menu.

I have a larger monitor and I just have to tell my graphics card to stretch the image to fullscreen.

There should be no need to do that, the game will allow you to select any resolution your monitor can support, aside from ultra-wide. It definitely will allow the use of a 1440p widescreen monitor as that is what I use, and the option does indeed show up in the list.

That is true, it doesnt have to stretch the image for this game on my monitor. I play in my native resolution just fine.

But My Oblivion isn't recognizing my rtx 2080 or my native resolution (2560x1440)

any way to fix this? I already tried Youtubing and googling the problem, but none of them seem to relate what I need help with.
