Dark Brotherhood Story Question *Spoiler Alert*
I've always had one question during the dark brotherhood story. The question is basically "how were you able to intervene in time to be able to talk to the person that placed the dead drops in the barrel after killing the listener?". This question has always confused me, so I hope someone can give me the information I need to finally understand this little bit.

I am not sure, if I understood you correct, as my native language is not english and I feel like I forget sth. here.
But I will try.
"to be able to talk to the person that placed the dead drops" --> This guy poor guy was not part of the dark brotherhood, he just did what the "traitor"-speaker (I will call him like that for now) told him to do. As this traitor speaker did not receive its order by the nigths mother, he could still make these "dead drops". So even if the listener is dead (what you, the protagonist does not know), you still receive the orders.
I hope I understood it correcxt, shame on me if not

What annoys me more about that questline now is that, even if you figure out what's going on, there is no way to avoid what happens next, other than to suddenly abandon the whole questline.

And there are clues that would let the player figure it out the first time, like the sudden change in tone and handwriting of your dead drop orders, or the Dark Brotherhood outfits in the homes of your targets, but you can't report it to anybody who can do anything about it.

Not only the tone, but even the texture of the lettres (before you gote this letters, later yopu get thoses note sheets)

What I mean by my question is like, how were we able to literally see the guy placing the dead drops in the barrel, but we couldn't earlier? Seems a little strange to me.

Now that you mention it, this does seem like a major plot hole, since the traitor should have had plenty of time to change all the dead drops before you even finished the first one. Maybe he was trying to keep up appearances with the rest of the Brotherhood by not traveling to take care of it himself, or was worried Lucien was tailing him. So he quietly recruited the agent you confront to switch the dead drops instead, which would have taken longer than if he'd just done it himself.

Still seems a little too convenient, but that's videogame plots for you.
