Enchanting on a warrior-style build?
I'm lvl 27 on a sword & board/heavy armor character, and so far I've managed to get by without enchanting (just a lot of alchemy & healing potions, instead). I just had my first encounter with 3 wisps though, and back-peddling swinging a silver sword for 10 minutes was NOT fun, and since ghosts always screw me over I figured it was time to start looking into enchanting weapons/armor.

I've gone over guides but they're all very surface-level.

My only magic skill that's seen any use is Restoration, at lvl 39. Other skills are probably at their lowest. Should I start training in any magic skills in particular?

Also since I've maxed Strength and Endurance I started putting points into Intelligence, but my Magicka is only around 130. Is it worth investing more as I level up?

And finally, are there any spells in particular that would be good for enchanting on a melee fighter? I've picked up a few by exploring and buying cheap ones, but I'm missing a lot of defensive or fortifying ones.

Cheers for any guidance or tips.

Alteration is always handy for the various shield spells, as well as feather, water walking and water breathing. Mysticism is also good for soul trap to fuel your enchanted weapons, restoration is also very useful.

I'm just surprised that you don't have any enchanted weapons at this point. Anything silver, daedric, *or* with an enchantment can hit ghosts. Even if the enchantment is something that can't hurt ghosts (like Frost) the base damage from the weapon impact will still bypass normal weapon resistance. Note that some other monsters also have some degree of Resist Normal Weapons, it's just not as obvious when it's not 100%.

If you're looking to enchant a weapon yourself, an elemental damage enchantment from a Sigil Stone is probably the most practical. At your level the most powerful stones (Transcendent) always drop, which have stronger enchantments of their type than you can make at an altar. The only problem is that Sigil Stone types are random, so you might have to close a few gates to get what you want. I think Shock is the best overall, followed by Fire, then Frost. This is mostly because too many things are resistant or immune to frost, but almost nothing resists shock.

There are also weapons that have a Damage Health effect, which nothing is weak or immune to, but this is not efficient in terms of magicka usage, as it's the most expensive damage effect.

Alchemy > spells 99% of the time

If you wanna enchant your gear just fortify your strength and endurance attributes so you can carry more, deal more damage, and have more hp. use damage potions to enchant your weapons for a short time or find already enchanted weapons on quests and in dungeons etc. Im playing a mage atm and am level 14 and havednt even touched marksman its like level 15. i got a bow with some enchant of ice damage. it one shots everything without sneak attack pretty much lol. although all my spells and staffs ohko stuff too and my weapons do too lol but im 100 intellgence and 100 willpower and 150 strength(due to enchanted gear with forftify strength)
