Pretty much this.
Bethesda has been dumbing down their games for a while now, and the superior role playing experience is found in the previous titles.
When I finally added the new hardware and I got decent FPS was the first time I saw a giant rat bounding towards me in the prison sewers and it was one of the most amazing gaming moments I've ever had. It was with new hardware so I had never seen animation in a game like that and compared to the side scrolling Amiga games of the early 90s like Shadow Of The Beast and Monkey Island it was breathtaking. The city designs and level construction of Skyrim are better than Oblivion but it still doesn't capture the atmosphere of Oblivion which keeps me coming back.
A few years ago the Oblivion forums at UESP were always busy with discussions but it dropped when Skyrim was released and looking at it now some sub forums have not been updated in months. There are some excellent mods for Oblivion and Nexus makes the perfect resource to review and download mods. Oblivion can be played without mods but after a playthrough or two you can have immense amounts of fun with mods. You name it there is probably a mod for it.
Not once did i feel sad when a NPC died in Skyrim.....i just failed Knights of the Thorn and gave Farwill a little burial ( some flowers i stole from a Church ) felt like i did a good deed
Yea
Doing so would require a maximum of 20 voice actors doing the same line. 1 voice actor for each race. + 1 onto that for male/female. Not only would that take a long time. But it would majorly detract from the game. Bethseda looks to have learned from that mistake during FO4 with some of the DLC's. Just like they learned from Horse armor by producing the Shivering Isles.
They never learned from a certain period of Skyrim mods on Steam though...
